In a landmark judgment with far-reaching implications for healthcare in India, the Kerala HighCourt has ruled in favour of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) in Writ Petition No. 41064/2025, filed by the Indian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation(IAPMR). The Hon’ble Court verdict means that qualified physiotherapists are legally entitled to use the prefix “Dr.” and are authorized to practice independently, without unnecessary professional restrictions. The judgment establishes a strong legal precedent affirming physiotherapy as a scientific, evidence-based, and autonomous healthcare profession. Prof. Dr. Sanjiv K.
