| Jammu Division Canals being closed for execution of works from Jan 15, 2026 | |
Jammu, January 10 (Scoop News)-All major canals of Jammu province including Ranbir Canal, New Partap Canal, Kathua Canal and their distribution networks along with the Tawi Lift Irrigation Canal and Ravi Canal (including their distribution networks) shall be closed from January 15, 2026 for annual desilting and maintenance work.
Official communiqués received from Chief Engineers of Irrigation & Flood Control and Ravi Tawi Irrigation Departments stated that “As per consent conveyed by the Director, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu (letter No: Agri/DAJ/Dev-32/2025-26/7583 dated 06-01-2026), all major canals of Jammu division shall be closed from January 15, 2026. The date for opening of canals shall be notified separately. All the concerned Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers have been directed to complete works before the scheduled reopening of the canals”.
