iHub Divyasampark Spoke, University of Ladakh Launches Ten-Day Workshop
on 3D Printing at Kargil Campus

Kargil, December 29 (Scoop News)- The University of Ladakh, in collaboration with iHub Divyasampark, IIT Roorkee, inaugurated a ten-day workshop on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing at the Department of Computer Science & IT, Kargil Campus. The workshop attracted enthusiastic participation from students and professionals across Kargil, reflecting the region’s growing engagement with emerging technologies.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan, Deputy Controller of Examinations, University of Ladakh, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration, Kargil Campus, as Guest of Honour. Also present on the occasion was Dr. Mustafa Ali, Director Physical Education Kargil Campus.

In his address, Dr. Mehboob Ali informed participants that the Spoke Hub has been established to promote innovation in the field of Cyber-Physical Systems with a focus on solving local challenges of Ladakh. He urged students to make full use of the ten-day workshop as an entry point into the world of 3D printing and emphasized that acquiring Industry 4.0 skills is essential to stay competitive in the future job market. He noted that the inspiring leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Manish Anand, CEO, iHub Divyasampark, was central to the successful organization of this workshop. He added that their guidance continues to create meaningful learning opportunities for the youth of Ladakh.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan underlined the growing role of technology in education, innovation and skill development. He assured that the University of Ladakh will continue to extend academic and technical support to make students future-ready and appreciated the collaborative effort that made this advanced training possible in Kargil. He thanked iHub Divyasampark and the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh for their proactive support in establishing and strengthening the Spoke Hub at Kargil Campus.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Anwar Hussain, Assistant Professor, University of Ladakh, and Gulzar Hussain, Developer, NIC Ladakh, who introduced participants to the fundamentals of digital design, 3D printing workflows and their real-world applications. The participants took part in an ice-breaker activity to further understand the differences in 2 dimensional objects and 3 dimenisonal objects.

The workshop covers the complete process of 3D printing, including digital model design, preparation of print files, printer operation and prototype development, along with training on cloud-based CAD using Onshape Studio. Participants successfully completing the program will receive certification from iHub Divyasampark and the University of Ladakh.

The initiative is being conducted as a collaborative effort involving the Design and Innovation Centre, IUST Kashmir, NIELIT Ladakh, NIC Ladakh, IIT Roorkee, and the faculty of the University of Ladakh, ensuring both conceptual depth and hands-on learning for participants.

To facilitate broader participation, the Kargil Campus is providing transportation from Kargil town to the campus for all registered participants. The workshop reflects the University of Ladakh’s continued commitment to strengthening innovation-driven education and expanding access to new technologies across the region.
