Either the Homeland or the balance of Population in Kashmir:PK

Jammu, December 29 (Scoop News)- In order to commemorate the "Shahiďi-Saptah" of Singh-Shishu, 34th Margdarshan-Day and the Martyrdom-Day of Pt. Premnath Bhat, a national webinar was organised by Panun Kashmir today. It was attended by the prominent activists of the displaced Hindu community of Kashmir living at various places in the country after their forced mass exodus from Kashmir.

Those who attended the webinar included among others Utpal Kaul, Virender Raina, Anupam Kaul, Upinder Saroop, Upinder Kaul, Kamal Bagati, Vijay Handoo, Rajinder Kaul, Pradeep Handoo & R.K.Dhar. K.K.Bujoo from Vitasta Desk briefed the members about the latest update in regard to the struggle for Relief issues in Jammu as well as in Delhi. Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader also attended the programme as a special guest speaker.

Members paid rich tributes to the memory of all martyrs who sacrificed their life for the cause of "Desh and Dharma". The activists joined from J&K, Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon etc. There was total unanimity among the members about the struggle in exile which has two important facets involving the survival and existence of people from Kashmir as a cohesive and compact group of indigenous population of the valley of Kashmir.

Members expressed their opinion about the fate and future of the struggle in exile. On the front of survival, a number of steps have been undertaken by the community activists especially focussed on the issues of relief in Delhi and Jammu. Those of our community members who couldn't get the benefit of monthly relief after the bifurcation of families can get it now with the issuance of the Government order in this respect on 8 December, 2025. This was done after a long struggle at various levels and finally the struggle paid off.

The concerned displaced families are advised to get into touch with the authorities in this regard at the level of the Zonal offices in Jammu. Similarly, in regard to Delhi AMR, the file for issuance of the relevant orders is being finalised at the level of the MHA of the government of India. It was earlier approved by the cabinet of the Delhi government. It is expected now to get the final approval in the month of January 2026. This issue was followed up at the political level as well over the last one year.

It was also decided to follow up the issue of enhancement of relief at the government of India level. The jobs for the youth of the displaced community should also be the priority of the struggle in the year 2026. The Central government is appealed to make an earnest planning in this regard which may include announcement of special recruitment drive for the unemployed youth of the displaced community.

In regard to the other important facet of the struggle, the existence issue of the community, it needs to be said that the community is an important political issue that has a special relevance. The Kashmiri Pandit community through the Margdarshan Resolution of 1991 has made it amply clear that there are only two ways of the resettlement of the community in the valley of Kashmir. One is the establishment of Homeland in the valley for the displaced community and the other is the balancing of population in the valley of Kashmir.

The operative part of the Margdarshan Resolution 1991 was implemented by the government of India partially to a large extent on 5th August 2019. With the reorganisation of the J&K state into two Union Territories, abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, nullification of separate flag, emblem and constitution of the J&K state, the Modi government has brought a sea change in the Kashmir valley.

The separatist elements in Kashmir were encouraged by the people in power for three long decades but the actions of 5th August 2019 followed by strong action against the radical, fundamentalist elements forced the Hurriyat to close its shops in the valley. However, things in respect of resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley need drastic planning at the grassroot level.

For the Kashmiri Pandits, "enough is enough, there is no question of any reconciliation with the perpetrators of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Kashmir. Kashmiri Pandits won't forget or forgive what was done to them. They continue to appeal to the government for instituting Special Crimes Tribunal for the acts of genocide against the Hindu community of Kashmir which were described by the NHRC as acts akin to genocide".

The webinar also remembered the contributions of Adv. P.N.Bhat in Kashmir and said that he was an intellectual connection of the nationalistic forces in Kashmir with the national leadership and all such organisations including the important people in power at the centre.

Lastly, songs and hymns were recited in memory of the martyrdom of the Singh Sahiban in their valiant fight against the tyranny of Mughals and their cruel cohort. Their sacrifices would be remembered by the generations to come also in context of the unity and integrity of the Indian nation besides their contributions to uphold the Indian civilization and culture.
