| Sat Sharma calls for mass adoption of Swadeshi products | | BJP organizes Swadeshi Mela in Jammu, reinforces call for Atmanirbhar Bharat | Jammu, December 24 (Scoop News)- The Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir, organized a vibrant Swadeshi Mela at Bahu Plaza, Jammu, aimed at promoting indigenously manufactured products, empowering local artisans, traders and entrepreneurs, and strengthening the spirit of Atmanirbharta and Swadeshi among the masses.
The event was graced by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP Vice-Presidents Priya Sethi, Rajiv Charak, Rakesh Mahajan, Rekha Mahajan, Rashpaul Verma, General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Gopal Mahajan, Secretaries Reema Padha, Arun Sharma, District President Naresh Singh Jasrotia, senior leaders Adv. Rajesh Gupta, Nand Kishore, Rinku Choudhary, and MLAs Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Surjit Singh Salthia, Chander Prakash Ganga, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Yudhvir Sethi, Arvind Gupta, Prof. Gharu Ram, Dr. Rajiv, besides a large number of party functionaries and citizens.
The programme commenced with the lighting of traditional lamps by the dignitaries. Priya Sethi, Vice-President, J&K BJP, was the Programme Incharge, and the event was organized by the Jammu South District team. The Swadeshi Mela also featured captivating cultural performances by local folk artists and singers, reflecting Jammu’s rich cultural heritage.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma emphasized that Swadeshi is not merely an economic concept but a national duty and a people’s movement. He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has embarked upon a historic journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, where indigenous manufacturing, innovation, and entrepreneurship are driving national growth.
“Every Swadeshi product used by an Indian household strengthens the nation’s economy, empowers local workers, and enhances India’s self-reliance,” Sat Sharma said, urging citizens to consciously prefer Indian-made products in their daily lives.
Sat Sharma further asserted that the BJP-led government has transformed India into a confident and capable global player, with indigenous strength visible in defence, infrastructure, space, science, healthcare and technology. He stated that Viksit Bharat @2047 can only be realized when the spirit of Swadeshi becomes a mass movement.
Ashok Koul underlined cultural pride and self-belief, and said that Atmanirbharta begins with the spirit of ‘Swa’—self-pride, self-confidence and self-belief. He stressed the importance of respecting and promoting indigenous products, languages and culture as a foundation of national strength.
He recalled the pivotal role played by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in securing the inclusion of the Dogri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, highlighting BJP’s long-standing commitment to cultural identity and inclusive development.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, while addressing the Mela, highlighted India’s rising global stature, and said that India today is not merely advocating Atmanirbharta but demonstrating it through decisive action and tangible outcomes. He pointed out that India’s indigenous defence capabilities have proven their strength, stating that Indian-built firepower effectively countered hostile forces during Operation Sindoor.
Dr. Singh said that the world is increasingly looking towards India in key sectors such as space science, satellite launches, advanced medicine and biotechnology. He highlighted that even major global powers are opting for satellite launches through India, reflecting international trust in Indian capabilities. Recalling India’s humanitarian role during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that India supplied vaccines to numerous countries, many free of cost, showcasing India’s leadership guided by the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Jugal Kishore Sharma emphasized grassroots economic empowerment, and said that the concept of Swadeshi directly connects with grassroots economic empowerment. He stated that promotion of local products ensures that money circulates within Indian markets, benefiting small traders, artisans, farmers, women self-help groups and startups.
Jugal Kishore Sharma emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, focused initiatives such as Vocal for Local, Make in India and Startup India have created unprecedented opportunities for local producers. He urged people to become active stakeholders in nation-building by supporting Swadeshi products, stating that public participation is the key force behind achieving a self-reliant and developed India. ... |
