| Triple "A" Performing Arts Stages Rajeshwar Singh 'Raju's Hindi Play “Aaiena” | | Jammu, December 21 (Scoop News)- The cultural heart of Jammu was profoundly stirred as the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture & Languages (JKAACL) presents Triple "A" Performing Arts' poignant Hindi play, "Aaiena/आईना," last evening at the historic Abhinav Theatre. Part of JKAACL’s esteemed Saptahik Rangdhara (Saturday Series), the production was a gripping exploration of human emotion and societal reflection.
Written by the acclaimed Rajeshwar Singh 'Raju'," "Aaiena" delicately unveiled the lives of women and girls navigating a world captivated by self-adornment and outward appearances. However, beneath this shimmering surface, the play delves into the unpredictable currents of life itself, poignantly exploring the inherent uncertainties and emotional turbulence that shape our destinies. At its heart lies Nirmala's compelling journey, where even the essence of love undergoes profound transformations. The play is a powerful call for a life of genuine substance, advocating for authentic living that courageously strips away social pretenses to confront reality with unflinching honesty.
Designed and directed by Vijay Kapoor, "Aaiena" serves as more than just entertainment; it is a profound social commentary. Kapoor's directorial vision casts the play as a "mirror reflecting the often-uncomfortable realities of our society" that are frequently obscured by outward facades. He illuminates wider societal issues such as the enduring stigma faced by widows, the poignant struggles of those trapped in the unrealistic pursuit of a "perfect match," and the pervasive pressure on women, including devoted wives, to tirelessly maintain an idealized image. "Aaiena" is deliberately designed to be a mirror that does not flatter but reveals the raw truths of our social fabric, prompting audiences to reflect, discuss, and perhaps even act to change these reflections.
The production boasts a stellar cast, with J.R. Sagar as Janak, renowned journalist & actor King C Bharati as Nishant, Seema Kamal portraying Nirmala (1 & 2), Savita Sharma as Savitri, Rishab Yashovardhan as Raj, Aarti Bakshi as Rupa, and Pranvika Sharma as the Child Nirmala. The directorial team is further strengthened by King C Bharati as Associate Director, whose extensive background as a senior journalist, playwright, and seasoned theatre artist, alongside his strong association with Deep Society for Visual & Dramatic Arts (DSVDA), brings a unique depth of narrative skill and intimate understanding of the actor's craft.
The intricate tapestry of "Aaiena" is brought to life by a dedicated technical and creative team: Poems by Rajeshwar Singh 'Raju'," Music for Poems by Kuldeep Saproo, Background Music Arranged & Managed by Shazi Dilshad Khan and Ishu Bharati Pandit, Lighting by Ravinder Sharma, Choreography by Rohit Bains, Song (Vachan) Lyrics by King C Bharati, Music & Singer M. Sharda, Set Design by Vinay Daggar, Costumes by Rekha Kapoor and Isha Bharati Pandit, Make-up by Shammi Dhamir, Property by Janvi Kapoor and Poonam Sudan, Publicity by Sahil Bloria and Abhishek Kapoor. The overall management for Triple "A" Performing Arts was handled by Raja Aamir Khan (President) and M. Akram Khan (Managing Director).
