| IHRO Organizes grand Chilla kalan Literary Cultural Event at Tagore Hall | | Dr. Khawaja Farooq addressed Literary Cultural Event |  Srinagar, December 21 (Scoop News)- International Human Rights Organization (IHRO), Jammu and Kashmir Chapter Organized the grand Chilla Kalan Literary Cultural Event at Tagore Hall today.
In a remarkable homage to the rich tapestry of Kashmiri culture, Dr. Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, the Chairman of Kashmir Society International and Advisor of International Sharda University, graced the inaugural day of the grand Chilla Kalan Literary Cultural Event.
This festival unfolded through a triad of artistic expressions: Mehfil-e-Mushairah, presided over by Syed Basharat Bukhari, intertwined with Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan and Pheran Day, collectively breathing life into the winter's embrace. Prominent figures were present, including Mr. Altaf Bhat, President of IHRO, Mr. Yaqoob Doonu, and celebrated personalities such as Parvaiz Manoos renowned writter & Novelist, Dr. Shabnam Ashai and Madam Mahjabeen Nabi, with a dynamic cultural mosaic that fortified the event’s spirit.
Aimed at celebrating the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and artistic legacy of Kashmir, the event also heralded the onset of Chilla Kalan—the Valley's most rigorous winter, symbolizing the resilience and strength inherent in Kashmiri identity through the cherished Pheran.
Under the stewardship of Mr. Altaf Bhat IHRO, Yaqoob Doonu , Roshan Aara and their dedicated team, the gathering thrived with the voices of poets, intellectuals, artists, and cultural enthusiasts, each contributing to the joyous celebration that underscored Kashmir's artistic vitality.
The Mehfil-e-Mushairah, curated by the revered poet Rather Rishan Ara, emanated soulful verses, echoing the emotions, history, and cultural depth that characterize Kashmir. The Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan illuminated winter traditions, while Pheran Day paid homage to the timeless attire, embodying warmth, dignity, and cultural continuity.
In his keynote address, Dr. Khwaja Farooq Renzushah spoke profoundly of Kashmir's historical legacy as a reservoir of knowledge and Tasawuf. He underscored the significance of Chilla Kalan and the Pheran as essential threads woven into the fabric of Kashmiri civilization. He commended the efforts of Altaf Bhat, Yaqoob Doonu, and Rather Rishan Ara for reviving this esteemed tradition, which has been celebrated annually since 1999 as a testament to the Valley’s spiritual ethos.
Reflecting on the historical roots of this cultural renaissance, Dr. Renzushah recalled the influential presence of Great Bulbulshah and Great Shah Hamdaan in the 14th century, who fostered the Reshi tradition through seasonal gatherings that encouraged the exchange of knowledge and spiritual dialogue. He cited the historical significance of the Chahal Israr, an extraordinary literary work penned by Hazrat Shah Hamdan, born from such moments of cultural communion.
The speakers collectively emphasized the imperative of preserving Kashmir's cultural legacy amid shifting times. They articulated that initiatives such as this not only promote unity and peace but also reinforce the essential human values that bind communities together.. On this occasion distinguished Scholars, writters, Authors displayed 22 literary books of Khwaja Farooq Renzushah which includes, Doobtay Kinaray, Zakhmoon ki Salgirah, Bhanwar Meri Manzil, Girti Bulandyain, Jheel jalti hain, Aab Cho dazaan, Kashmir Bears throne , sultana Kota Rani, Reshi Queen, oosh tae khoon. In his first book in Forward renowned Dr. Iqbaliyaat has written that Afsanay of Dr. Renzushah surpass many times even Munshi Praem Chand.
As the event drew to a close, participants were imbued with renewed pride in Kashmir’s artistic, literary, and traditional heritage—reiterating IHRO's commitment to cultural preservation and social harmony.
