| JKPCC Condoles demise of Ex-HM Shiv Raj Patil | | Congress remembers G.M. Sadfiq, Mir Qasim and Mir Lasjan | Jammu, December 12 (Scoop News)-JKPCC has deeply condoled the sad demise of former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Shri Shiv Raj Patil, who passed away today morning.
In a condolence meeting at the PCC headquarters Jammu under the Presidentship of Shri Tariq Hameed Karra deep shock and grief was expressed over the passing away of the veteran Congress leader who served the country in different capacities including the Minister for Home Affairs, Defence Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996. He served as Minister in the cabinet of Smt. Indira Gandhi and Shri Rajiv Gandhi also as Defence Minister.
A two minutes silence was observed to pray for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile rich tributes were paid to Shri G. M. Sadiq former Prime Minister & first Chief Minister of J&K and founder of Congress party in J&K, Syed Mir Qasim (Former Chief Minister) and G. M. Mir Lasjan (former Minister) on their death anniversaries today.
Paying floral tributes to the veteran leaders, the senior Congress leaders described G.M. Sadiq as a most secular patriotic and able administrator who served the state and the country with great dedication. He provided corruption free and efficient government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir State. He played an important role to further cement the State- Centre relationship and took revolutionary steps to integrate J&K through Constitutional amendment to change the nomenclature of Sadr-e-Riyasat to Governor and Prime Minister to Chief Minister. He was a revolutionary and most visionary leader of J&K whose thoughts, policies and programmes are relevant and guiding factors for all the times to come. He was Prime Minister and the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and his tenure is remembered even today as an exemplary one in terms of clean and efficient administration. It was under his leadership the congress was formally founded in J&K in 1965.
The leaders also remembered the services of Former Chief Minister Syed Mir Qasim and G. M. Mir Lasjan who were also founder members of congress and described them best administrators who always cared for people and kept their interests above all. Sayed Mir Qasim quit the post of Chief Minister to pave way for the installation of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah as Chief Minister in 1975 following Indira-Sheikh Accord, in the larger interest of nation to strengthen the mainstream politics in Jammu and Kashmir. All three congress stalwarts remained committed to the secular and democratic principles and ideology of the Congress party.
Prominent among those who paid tributes included Working President JKPCC Raman Bhalla, Former Minister Mula Ram & Yogesh Sawhney, Smt. Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Incharge HQ. Ved Mahajan, Congress Chief Whip in Legislative Assembly Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat, Th. Balbir Singh, Rajnish Sharma-Treasurer, Hari Singh Chib, Th. Manmohan Singh, Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Sohit Sharma, Bhavishya Sudan, Rakesh Sharma and others.
