| CGPWA organizes awareness Lecture on CGHS | | 
Jammu, December 08 (Scoop News)- The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) today organised an Awareness Lecture on the Central Govt Health Scheme (CGHS). The Incharge Senior Medical Officer, Wellness Centre -2, Dr Shivali Sharma delivered the lecture listing the initiatives in the CGHS for the benefits of the beneficiaries. There are about 25000 pensioners CGHS beneficiaries in Jammu.
Dr Shivali informed that since September 2024, the CGHS has modified the referral system. Its validity has been increased from one month to three months. There is now no need for fresh referral if the Consultant of the CGHS empaneled Hospital on earlier referral, referred the CGHS beneficiary to two other consultants of the same hospital. Similarly, there is no requirement of referral for prescribed investigation/ tests if the charges of each test/ investigation do not exceed Rs 3000/- The tests like CT scan, MRI & Nuclear Scan are not covered under it.
She said that however, this capping of Rs 3000/ for each test/ investigation will not apply to CGHS beneficiaries of 70 or above age. This also include investigations like CT scan, MRI & Nuclear Scan, if prescribed by the Consultant of the empaneled Hospital and are among the CGHS listed tests. These beneficiaries do not need referral for these investigations.
The I/C SMO clarified that Geotagging is not required for all beneficiaries for consultation or prescribed investigations/ tests in cases where they are carrying referral. The Geotagging is required if the beneficiary is without referral from the Wellness Centre. The Geotagging is also required under rule even for emergency cases.
Later, the meeting of the Advisory Committee attached to Wellness Centre-2 was also held. The President of the CGPWA Kuldeep Khoda presided. The issues of the CGHS beneficiaries with Wellness Centre-2 were discussed. The members impressed upon the I/C SMO, Dr Shivali Sharma to act under rule against the CGHS empaneled Chemist for delayed supply of the medicines to the beneficiaries. The system evolved for informing the concerned beneficiary about supply of ‘short medicine’ is not functioning and the Wellness Centres are requested to enforce it for the benefit of the beneficiaries.
