Imran Latief from Bhalessa Awarded PhD in Political Science by Bhagwant University

Jaipur / Doda , December 07 (Scoop News)-Bhagwant University has awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science to Imran Latief, a resident of Bhalessa (Jammu & Kashmir), for his research titled: “UNO Peace Gesture International Organisation: A Comparative Study of Indian Foreign Policy and UN Strategic Transformation.”

The convocation ceremony was graced by Prof. Pushpender Singh Chauhan, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SKNAU, Jobner, who attended as the Chief Guest and congratulated Dr. Latief for his scholarly contribution to international relations.

He completed his research under the supervision of Prof. Sunita Sinha and Dr. Vinod Kumar Saini. His work presents a comprehensive analysis of India’s evolving foreign policy and the strategic transformation occurring within the United Nations in response to emerging global challenges.
His study highlights India’s role as a leading advocate of multilateralism, peacebuilding and international cooperation. The thesis notes India’s long-standing contributions to UN peacekeeping, including pioneering the first all-women police contingent in Liberia and deploying over 260,000 peacekeepers since 1948.

The research highlights India’s strong push for UN reforms, particularly the expansion and restructuring of the UN Security Council to ensure equitable representation for developing nations. It also emphasizes India’s leadership in global developmental initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance (ISA), Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and the India–UN Development Partnership Fund.

He also highlights India’s stand against terrorism at the United Nations, including its efforts toward the adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) and its active role in the UN Security Council’s counter-terrorism mechanisms.
The thesis concludes that India and the United Nations share a deep and mutually reinforcing partnership, with India emerging not only as a responsible stakeholder but also as a key architect of global peace, security and sustainable development. His work contributes valuable insight into how India’s diplomatic vision continues to shape the future of multilateral cooperation.
