| SKK Divyangs celebrate World Divyang Day with dances | |  Jammu,December 03 (Scoop News)- The J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu (SKK) today celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities, also called World Divyang Day in the premises of its School For Hearing Handicapped with enthusiasm and fervor. The students presented a cultural program which included dances on popular songs. Punjabi Gidda was the most entertaining item. They Danced on the recorded songs choreographed by the teachers through sign language.
The Principal of the School, Roshan Bhan was the Chief Guest.
The theme of this year’s Day was “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”. The objective of the Day is promoting understanding of the disability issues, advocating rights and well-being of people with disabilities, and emphasizes their integration into all aspects of life.
The Principal explained to the Divyang students the objectives of the Day through Sign Language and impressed upon them to excel in life surmounting their deficiencies. He said that despite their disabilities they have the potential to do best in their lives and become a responsive citizen of India. Earlier, some students shared their experiences they face daily but did not lose their determination to be a good and responsible citizen. Parents of the Divyang students and teachers were present.
