Judicial Inquiry Commission reaffirms protection for witnesses and complainants


Leh, November 22 (Scoop News)-The Judicial Inquiry Commission convened a press briefing today at the Civil Secretariat, Leh. The briefing was addressed by Shri Rigzin Spalgon, Joint Secretary to the Commission, who urged individuals to freely and voluntarily submit their statements before the Commission.

During the briefing, Secretary Spalgon said that, anyone whether a government official, a private individual, or a member of any organisation who intimidates, threatens, or harasses someone to stop them from giving information or taking part freely in the inquiry will face legal action.

He further stated that any witness or complainant subjected to such intimidation has the formal right to lodge a complaint or grievance, which may be submitted directly to the Inquiry Commission.

To ensure the safety and confidence of witnesses and complainants, the Joint Secretary assured that all such complaints will be treated with utmost confidentiality and dealt with promptly, strictly in accordance with the law.
