| PDF President Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen expresses condolences over fatal Budgam road accident | | Srinagar, November 16 (Scoop News)-Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, has expressed profound grief over the tragic accident that claimed the lives of four members of a single family and left eleven others injured in Budgam district on Saturday night.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the urgent need for stricter road safety measures and better traffic management on under-construction highways.
According to official reports, a Tata Sumo vehicle collided with a dumper truck at approximately 10:30 PM in Waterwani village, located along the under-construction Ring Road near Paller.
The impact was severe, and the victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals. The deceased have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Rather (40), Bashir Ahmad Rather (36), Khatoona (60), and Zainab (10), all residents of Mahwara village in Budgam.
Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and urged the authorities to provide immediate relief and adequate compensation.
He called upon the IG Traffic and concerned departments to urgently review traffic arrangements and safety protocols, particularly on under-construction highways, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Speaking on the incident, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said, “This is a heartbreaking loss for the entire community. The families have suffered an unimaginable tragedy, and it is the responsibility of the administration to ensure that immediate support and rehabilitation are provided. At the same time, we must take strict measures to prevent such accidents on our roads, including better monitoring of heavy vehicles and enforcing safety standards in construction zones.”
He further stressed the need for road safety awareness campaigns, proper signage, speed regulations, and vigilant traffic monitoring in residential areas and ongoing construction sites.
Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with authorities to improve road safety, provide support to the affected families, and ensure that citizen safety remains a top priority for the administration.
