Priya Sethi calls ‘Vande Mataram’ programme in J&K a symbol of unity and cultural pride

Jammu, November 16 (Scoop News)-Vice President Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Former minister Priya Sethi has described the recently concluded Vande Mataram programme to commemorate 150 years of the national song in all 24 districts of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory as a “historic cultural moment” that reflected the region’s collective spirit, patriotism and cultural richness.
Sethi said the event showcased the emotional bond that the people of Jammu & Kashmir share with the nation.


Calling it a “vibrant celebration of India’s soul,” she praised the overwhelming participation of students, artists, civil society groups and local communities whose voices united in the powerful rendition of Vande Mataram.
“It is not just a patriotic song—it is a reflection of our shared values, sacrifices and aspirations,” she remarked.
Highlighting the importance of cultural initiatives in nation-building, Sethi stated that such programmes inspire youth, preserve traditional art forms and revive interest in India’s freedom movement. She also commended the organisers, district administrations and volunteers for ensuring wide participation, noting that cultural performances across districts beautifully represented India’s diverse traditions.


The recently held Vande Mataram programmes across Jammu & Kashmir saw the active involvement of several MLAs, senior BJP leaders, district presidents, prabharis, and other key office-bearers, whose participation added significance and organisational strength to the events. Their presence reflected widespread political support for the cultural initiative and helped mobilise people across all 24 districts.
She said, “Among the elected representatives, MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal participated in the Samba event at Vijaypur, lending strong encouragement to local organisers and volunteers. MLA Bharat Bhushan joined the Kathua programme at Bhagat Singh Park, highlighting the cultural and patriotic importance of the initiative. In Doda, MLA Shakti Raj Parihar attended the programme at the Old Bus Stand, where he appreciated the enthusiastic public response and district-level coordination.”


Senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party played a crucial role throughout the campaign, she said and praised the Vande Mataram celebrations as a historic and culturally unifying moment for the Union Territory.
She said adding that a large number of district-level leaders also contributed to the smooth execution of the programmes. Col Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman of Basohli, Ravi Parihar, District President of Kishtwar, Brij Mohan Sharma, Pawan Sharma State Secretary and Sajad Raina Co-Convenor, State Special Invitee, played notable roles in their respective districts. Prabharis such as Vinay Gupta, Arfi Raja, and Wajahat Hussain, along with Seh-Prabharis like Vaishno Devi and Sanjay, ensured timely coordination and communication at ground level.
Women leaders also marked strong participation, including Neha Mahajan and Kamlesh in Jammu South and Advocate Rekha Mahajan in Samba. District presidents such as Rinku Choudhary (Jammu Border), Neelam Langeh (Ramban), Hakeem Gazi Rahullah (Budgam), Ghulam Hussain Dar (Baramulla), Mudisar Jan (Bandipora), Farooq Ahmed Rather (Kulgam), and Raja Waseem (Shopian) actively supervised the preparations and helped mobilise youth and local communities.
Several other senior leaders, including Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, Gopal Mahajan, Tahir Hanjim Bhat, Ashok Bhat, and Javid Ahmed Qadri, contributed significantly to district-level arrangements. Their involvement ensured that the Vande Mataram initiatives were organized with discipline, cultural vibrancy, and broad participation.
Together, the MLAs and senior leaders formed a strong leadership network that guided, inspired, and strengthened the Vande Mataram celebrations across Jammu & Kashmir, reflecting a unified commitment to national pride and cultural resurgence.
She further emphasised that Jammu & Kashmir has been witnessing a cultural revival in recent years, with increased platforms for artistic expression and youth engagement.
“We are experiencing a positive transformation. These initiatives motivate people to celebrate their identity as proud Indians,” she said. Sethi reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to supporting cultural and developmental activities across the Union Territory and urged schools and cultural groups to regularly host events promoting patriotism and civic responsibility.
