| Interactive Session on Employment and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Solar Sector for Ex-Servicemen Held in Kargil | | Kargil, November 04 (Scoop News)-An interactive session on employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Solar Sector for Ex-Servicemen organised today at the Conference Hall of the Cooperative Department, Kargil.
The event was presided over by Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Technical Education & Skill Development Department, Ladakh, and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, and Captain (IN) A.K. Pawar, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, along with officials from the Power Development Department and other stakeholders.
During the session, Ms. Bhanu Prabha highlighted the importance of job-oriented skill training to enhance employability among ex-servicemen, their wives, and children. She suggested introducing a 45-day region-wise Solar Technician Course, noting that Ladakh has immense potential in solar energy.
She informed that around 1000 candidates across the district will be trained under various vocational programmes such as solar technology, tailoring, bakery, mushroom cultivation, plumbing, and electrical works, enabling them to become self-reliant and independent. She further mentioned that 12 model villages have been selected for the implementation of the solar project, and such initiatives will contribute significantly to sustainable development in the region.
Ms. Bhanu Prabha also interacted with the participants, clarifying their queries related to training, employment, and future prospects in the renewable energy sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imteeaz Kacho expressed gratitude to Ms. Bhanu Prabha for organising such a meaningful initiative, stating that the coordination between the district administration and ex-servicemen has always been commendable. He said that ex-servicemen consistently support national events and official programmes, and now through these training schemes, they will further enhance their skills. He added that such courses are beneficial not only for the ex-servicemen but also for their families, helping them to become more skilled, independent, and self-reliant.
He further remarked that the Indian Army is known for its discipline, and wherever ex-servicemen serve, be it in government or private sectors, they set an example of dedication and commitment. “Now, through these training courses, they will enrich their skills and continue leading disciplined and productive lives,” he said.
Captain (IN) A.K. Pawar, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Kargil, informed that around 100 ex-servicemen and dependents attended the session, and 68 participants volunteered on the spot for training under solar projects. He stated that this initiative of the Technical Education & Skill Development Department will go a long way in promoting local technical expertise, as presently such services are often outsourced to technicians from other regions during the winter season.
