CUKashmir celebrates 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel under Sardar@150 initiative
CUKashmir’s Deptt of Economics holds field visit for students


Ganderbal, October 31 (Scoop News)-Central University of Kashmir (CUK), in collaboration with My Bharat, Srinagar, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the banner “Sardar@150 Celebration” at Tulmulla here on Friday.

The event was organized to commemorate the life, contributions, and vision of the “Iron Man of India,” and to inspire the youth to uphold his ideals of unity, integrity, and nation-building.

Mr. Jatin Kishore (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, who was the chief guest spoke about the pivotal role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in unifying the nation. He reflected on Patel’s contribution towards integrating the princely states and laying the foundation of a strong and united India. Mr. Kishore urged the students and participants to emulate Patel’s dedication, vision, and commitment towards national unity and development.

Guest of Honour, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar, CUKashmir, highlighted the remarkable life journey of Sardar Patel and his unwavering devotion to the nation. He emphasized that Patel’s vision of “Ek Bharat” (One India) continues to guide the country in fostering harmony, unity, and inclusive development. Dr. Mir also appreciated the efforts of My Bharat and the university’s NSS Unit in organizing such a meaningful event.

Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Deputy Director, My Bharat, underscored the importance of youth engagement in nation-building and collective social responsibility.

Prof. Irfan Alam Malik, Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr. Shabir Ahmad Ahanger, NSS Coordinator, Deans, Heads, and Coordinators of departments, Youth Welfare Officers, NSS Officers, dignitaries from the District Administration, as well as faculty members, students, and volunteers from the university, colleges, higher secondary schools, and My Bharat were present.

The day’s proceedings included a Pad Yatra from the CUKashmir campus to the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple and back, symbolizing the spirit of unity and collective strength. The participants also took part in a Unity Pledge Ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to national integration, followed by a series of cultural performances reflecting the theme of unity in diversity.

The programme was ably moderated by Dr. Shahnaz Akhtar, NSS Officer, while Dr. Adil Nazki,Youth Welfare Officer, was the rapporteur.




CUKashmir’s Deptt of Economics holds field visit for students

Ganderbal, Oct 31: Department of Economics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organized a one-day educational field visit for the students of M.A. Economics on the theme “Impact of Financial Inclusion on Tribal Communities: A Step towards Viksit Bharat.”

HoD Economics, Dr. Masroor Ahmad briefed the students about the modus operandi for the activity. He expressed gratitude, to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, stating that his dynamic leadership, inspiring vision, and student-centric approach have continuously guided the university towards academic excellence and holistic growth.

He also thanked Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean Academic Affairs, for his encouragement and academic mentorship, and to Prof. Sandhya Tiwari, Dean, School of Social Sciences, for her keen academic insight and continuous support that made this event successful. The department also conveyed gratitude to Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar, for his administrative support and cooperation, which were pivotal in the smooth execution of the field visit.

The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and ground-level realities by enabling students to directly engage with tribal households and understand the impact of financial inclusion schemes on their lives. During the visit, students interacted with members of the local tribal community, conducted household surveys, and gathered valuable insights into the socio-economic challenges and opportunities faced by these communities. Through these interactions, students were able to observe firsthand how financial inclusion is empowering marginalized groups and contributing to the goal of an inclusive and developed India.

The students shared that this experience was deeply enriching and inspiring, allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical realities. They expressed enthusiasm for such initiatives, stating that activities like these not only enhance their academic understanding but also encourage empathy, social awareness, and field-based research skills.

The Department plans to continue organizing such field-based activities in the future, aligning with the CUKashmir’s vision of promoting holistic, experiential, and socially relevant education.
