Empowering Kashmir’s Tourism: Sojourn, a Digital Travel Companion, Officially Launched | | Srinagar, October 20 (Scoop News)-In a landmark event held in Srinagar today, Sojourn – Your Travel Companion, Jammu & Kashmir’s first all-in-one digital travel and tourism platform, was officially launched. The ceremony marked a pivotal moment in the region’s journey toward digital innovation, youth-led entrepreneurship, and sustainable tourism.
The event was attended by an array of dignitaries and thought leaders, with Mr. Tanveer Sadiq, Chief Spokesperson of the National Conference, serving as the chief guest. In his address, Mr. Sadiq emphasized the critical role of innovation, responsible governance, and security in the continued growth of Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism sector.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Tariq Gani Bedaba, Secretary General of the Kashmir Hoteliers Club, lauded the initiative as a forward-thinking model for integrating local vendors with the global travel economy. Prominent social worker Syed Aijaz Kashani also graced the occasion, highlighting the potential of youth-led initiatives in fostering community development.
Sojourn is the brainchild of Shoqeen Nabi, a third-year B.Tech Computer Science student, and co-founded by Tafheem Irshad Rather, a second-year B.R.I.T student – both from Sharda University. Their vision is a platform that connects travelers directly to verified local service providers, enhancing the tourism experience through transparency, ease, and empowerment.
Representing Sharda University, Mr. Ehtisham Zahan (Deputy Director of Admissions), Dr. Harishankar Shram (Professor), and Mr. Dhanish Noor (Regional Manager Admissions – J&K) reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing innovation and supporting student entrepreneurs.
The event, eloquently hosted by Abrar Baba, also witnessed the official unveiling of Sojourn’s website. The platform is now open for business onboarding across Jammu and Kashmir, with the full-feature mobile app slated to go live in the coming days. Once launched, travelers will be able to book stays, experiences, and local services — all through a single, intuitive digital interface.
Adding to the day’s celebrations, Miss Ifrana Zargar, recognized as the Pad Woman of Kashmir, and Miss Peer Mehak, a renowned sportsperson, were honored with Awards of Participation, presented by MLA Zadibal in recognition of their contributions to society and community upliftment.
