J&K Police arrests impersonator for extortion and fraud in Awantipora | |
Srinagar, October 18 (Scoop News)-In a swift and decisive action, J&K Police in Awantipora have arrested an individual for impersonating as a person with close ties to police and other authorities thereby extorting money from the public.
The action was initiated following a complaint filed by Raiees Ahmad Yatoo, son of Bashir Ahmad Yatoo, resident of Pampore, stating therein that the accused Faizan Amin, son of Mohammad Amin, resident of Patal Bagh, Pampore was fraudulently posing as a well-connected individual within the police department and demanding money under various false pretexts. He allegedly targeted individuals by exploiting their fear of legal action to extort money.
The extent of his fraudulent activities became evident after multiple victims came forward with similar allegations of threats and coercion. Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police Station Pampore registered FIR No. 110/2025 under sections (319) 2 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Due to timely and efficient action by the police team of Police Station Pampore, led by SHO Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Shri R.P. Singh, the accused was promptly arrested.
