| AJKYF condemns attack on Female Doctor at GMC Jammu | | Demands Immediate Arrest of Accused |
Jammu.July 18 (Scoop News)- The All Jammu & Kashmir Youth Federation (AJKYF) vehemently condemns the reprehensible attack on a female doctor on duty at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.
While condemning the attack it was expressed that such a cowardly act of violence, perpetrated by an attendant of a patient, is an assault not just on an individual but on the entire medical fraternity that serves our society tirelessly.
The federation expresses its profound shock and stands in absolute solidarity with the victimized doctor and her colleagues who work under immense pressure. It is a matter of grave concern and utter disappointment that even after a First Information Report (FIR) was formally registered against the culprits, no tangible action has been taken by the police which sends a dangerous message of impunity and undermines the safety and morale of our healthcare professionals.
In a statement, the State Convenor, AJKYF, Advocate Arjun Sharma quoted it as a shameful Act. He further stated that our doctors, especially women, are our frontline heroes. They deserve our respect and protection, not violence. The shocking inaction of the administration and police in arresting the accused, despite an FIR, is unacceptable. This lethargy only emboldens such anti-social elements and creates an environment of fear in our premier health institutions.
AJKYF demands the immediate arrest and initiation of strict legal proceedings against the individuals responsible for the assault from the J&K Administration and Jammu & Kashmir Police, implementation of a robust and effective security apparatus within the premises of GMC Jammu and all other hospitals across the UT to prevent such incidents in the future. The administration must ensure a zero-tolerance policy against violence on medical personnel.
