Bandipora, June 14 (Scoop News)-To commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2025, District Hospital Bandipora on Saturday organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with Bandipora Volunteers, drawing participation from dozens of enthusiastic donors across the district.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad, alongside Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora, Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani. Health officials, volunteers, and youth from different areas of Bandipora gathered in a collective effort to spread awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad emphasized the critical role of regular donors in saving lives.
“Blood donation is not just a noble act—it is a lifeline for those in need. On this World Blood Donor Day, we salute the selfless donors who help keep our healthcare system responsive and humane,” he said.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora, Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani commended the coordination between the hospital and civil society, especially the Bandipora Volunteers.
“Voluntary blood donation reflects the strength of a community. It’s heartening to see so many young people stepping forward to support the cause,” he noted.
Over 50 units of blood were collected during the camp, which will be preserved in the hospital’s blood bank for emergency use.
Members of Bandipora Volunteers, who played a key role in mobilizing participants, shared their motivations.
Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, one of the lead volunteers, expressed satisfaction at the turnout.
“We believe in serving humanity. Donating blood is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to do that. Every drop counts, and today Bandipora has shown what solidarity looks like.”
Another first-time donor, Aamir Gani, said he felt proud to contribute.
“This is my first time donating blood, and it won’t be the last. It feels amazing to know that a small act can help save someone’s life.”
Health officials reiterated that such camps not only help maintain adequate blood supplies but also encourage a culture of compassion and civic responsibility. Pamphlets and brochures were distributed during the event to educate attendees about the health benefits and safety of donating blood.
As World Blood Donor Day 2025 highlights the theme “20 Years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You, Blood Donors!”, the event in Bandipora stands as a testament to the spirit of community service and healthcare collaboration.
