Time to End Pakistan-Sponsored Terrorism in Kashmir: A Call for Unity and Action

By Farooq Ganderbali

The recent brutal attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam marks a turning point in the collective conscience of Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, villages across the Valley have risen in protest—not against the government, but against the true enemy: Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and radical extremism. The unified voice of the people sends a clear message—enough is enough.

Kashmir's economy thrives on tourism, an industry that relies fundamentally on peace. Without safety and security, there can be no tourism, no livelihood, no progress. The lifeline of the region has been held hostage for decades by militant groups acting at the behest of Pakistan. It is time to break this chain once and for all.

The need of the hour is unwavering national support to our security forces—be it the Indian Army, the CRPF, or the Jammu and Kashmir Police. These brave men and women stand on the frontlines, facing asymmetric warfare from well-trained guerrilla fighters like Lashkar-e-Taiba. Their task is enormous, and they must be equipped with both advanced tools and national unity backing their mission.

This moment also provides India with a historic diplomatic opportunity. Just as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee built international consensus against terror, today’s leadership must seize the global momentum. The world is growing weary of terrorism being used as a tool of state policy. The U.S. has expressed support in the wake of the Pahalgam attack, and while China’s response was muted, the overall geopolitical environment favors decisive Indian action.

Yet, as global powers urge restraint, Pakistan continues its duplicity. Its ministers openly admit to doing the "dirty work" for the West—shamelessly confessing to the very tactics that destabilize regions. This hypocrisy must be exposed at every international forum.

Internally, India's security architecture in Jammu and Kashmir needs urgent recalibration. Human intelligence must be strengthened to penetrate terror networks. With terrorists using encrypted communication, ground-level intel becomes more crucial than ever. The counter-insurgency grid must go back to basics—community trust, local cooperation, and surgical precision.

This is more than just a security issue—it is a moral imperative. The people of Kashmir have spoken. They want peace, prosperity, and a future free from the shadow of violence. Let us, as a nation, stand with them—not just in words, but in action.

Let us all unite for a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.
