Sheep Husbandry, Leh installed 448 kid pens in Nyoma subdivision

Leh, December 20 (Scoop News)-To mitigate the loss of young animals during the harsh winter months, the Department of Sheep Husbandry, Leh installed 448 kid pens in Nyoma subdivision, specifically benefitting the villages of Korzok, Kharnak, Koyul, Demjok, Dungti, Hanle, and Rongo. The initiative was taken under the vibrant village program.

The vibrant village program aims to create a more sustainable and resilient environment for livestock rearers in the region, particularly during the challenging winter season. Recognizing the vulnerability of young animals to the extreme weather conditions, the installation of these kid pens is a proactive step towards ensuring their well-being.

A total of 460 livestock rearers from the aforementioned villages actively participated in the program. Besides, department representatives were also present.


Shopkeepers are being given a notice under the Section 6-b of COTPA in Leh
Leh, December 20 (Scoop News)-All the shopkeepers are being given a notice under the Section 6-b of COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003, no shops can sell tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions.

During the recent field visits, the enforcing team found some shopkeepers repeatedly violating the above-mentioned Law.

The monitoring and enforcement drives will intensify in the coming days. Any shop found violating the provision of the law will have to face cancellation of Registration/License of their respective shops without any further notice, by the order of the Deputy Commissioner (Chairman DLCC, NTCP), Leh, as per law.
