Kathua Campus (JU) organizes 5th Extension Outreach Programme at its adopted village Kathera | |
Jammu, September 25 (Scoop News)-Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized 5th Extension Outreach Programme on "Fostering Agricultural Sustainability: Embracing Millets, Multicropping Strategies, and Mastering Waste Management" at its adopted village Kathera for showcasing a multifaceted approach to agricultural enhancement and emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices. The program was attended by a crowd of over 600 individuals.
In a parallel initiative, the "Stationery Distribution Drive-II" aimed at providing essential stationery to all the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Kathera. This noble effort reflected Kathua Campus's commitment for improving educational access and quality in the community.
A moment of artistic celebration unfolded with the release of the song "Chalo Kathera" composed and sung by Mr. Shivraj. The song encapsulates the spirit of unity and progress and resonates the brighter future of students of village Kathera.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus (JU) said that Kathua Campus is committed for the upliftment and prosperity of our adopted village, Kathera. She emphasized the necessity of embracing eco-friendly farming methods, which serve the dual purpose of ensuring food security and safeguarding our environment for the well-being of future generations. Further, she said the song “Chalo Kathera” embodies the prosperous future of the children of Kathera village.
Sh. Murari Digra, District Agriculture Officer, Kathua underscored the significance of sustainable agriculture practices in rural communities and also highlighted the importance of adopting millet cultivation and multicropping strategies.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vishal Sharma (Sr. Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua), Sh. Manmohan Sharma (Plant Doctor/JAEO, SDAO Office, Kathua), Sh. Mohinder Singh (Agriculture Extension Officer, Govindsar), Dr. Shashank D. Kulkarni (Agricultural Engineer & Policy Scientist), Sh. Pradeep Sharma (Retd. Assistant Agriculture Chemist, Jammu), Sh. Parshotam Gupta (SDAO, Kathua) shared their invaluable insights on various aspects of agriculture, millets, integrated farming and igniting enthusiasm among the attendees to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Convener, Extension Outreach Programmes, Kathua Campus (JU) welcomed the guests and apprised the participants regarding the relevance of such awareness programmes to empower the society.
Sh. Chaman Lal Sharma, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Kathera thanked Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu under whose visionary leadership such initiatives have been undertaken in village Kathera.
