Reserve jobs for unemployed youth in industrial sector in J&K: Manjit Singh | | Vijaypur, March 26 (Scoop News)-Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has demanded reservation of jobs in the industrial sector of Jammu and Kashmir in respective districts to local youths in both skilled and unskilled. As per a press release, S. Manjit Singh was addressing a meeting of Party leaders of Vijaypur Block which was attended by Provincial President Jammu Youth Wing Vipul Bali, District President Legal Cell, Adv Sahil Bharti, Lovely Mangol, Mangat Ram, and others. Manjit Singh chaired the meeting of Vijaypur Youth Wing and discussed employment related issues. During the meeting, the Apni Party leaders also expressed concern with regard to growing unemployment among the youth, and migration of the youth in search of work to outside J&K. He said that “The employment opportunities available in J&K’s industrial sector exists in Samba, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, and other parts of the erstwhile state but the industrialists do not provide ample employment to the local youth. These educated youth remain unemployed and hence, circumstances force them to migrate out of J&K for labour workers/palidari etc in Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and other states of the country.” In his speech, S. Manjit Singh criticized the failure of authorities to ensure that the youth get employment at their respective districts in the industrial sectors. “We have come to know about the contract based workers in industrial sectors and the permanent/ higher level and even skilled workers are hired from out of Jammu and Kashmir. We are providing these industrialists land and concessions so that they help the J&K Govt to handle the employment issues as well as to encourage economic growth. However, they take away the wealth after using the resources and provide employment to the non-locals,” he alleged. He appealed to the Govt to look into the issues seriously. Meanwhile, he appealed to the youth to participate in sports and themselves take up the fight against drug addiction. He said that drug addiction has consumed the life of the youth in cities, villages and towns. “The police have not been able to fully control the menace. Hence, the participation of women, men and youth in particular is important to ensure drug addiction can be controlled. Our youth are the asset of the country and they shall be protected,” he said. He said that the role of security forces can be ruled out and suggested that the security forces should organize camps on how to prepare for recruitment in the defence forces at the high school and higher secondary school level so that youth can be encouraged to join armed forces and remain away from drug addiction. He appealed to the people to help the police to work out the cases and track down the drug peddlers in respective areas.
