| 543 J&K students bag jobs in top MNCs in Chandigarh University’s 2022 placements | | Besides shaping careers with globally accredited, recognised courses, Chandigarh University leading charge in research, innovation,entrepreneurship: Pro-Chancellor Dr R S Bawa |
Jammu, March 16 (Scoop News)-Building on its strong and modern academic model, technology-driven and quality education and industry patronage, enriched in the over 150 courses accredited, acclaimed and recognised globally, Chandigarh University Gharuan is not only providing the much-needed impetus to the students from Jammu and Kashmir in their career trajectory, but also playing a decisive role in making them self-reliant, with added focus on entrepreneurship, said Dr R S Bawa, Pro-Chancellor, Chandigarh University. He was addressing a press conferenceorganised here to launch CUCET-2022, the National Level Entrance-cum-Scholarship test of the Varsity, with scholarships worth Rs 45 Crore on offer.
Asserting that the University was able to maintain its stellar placement record in the last 2 yearsdespite the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Bawa informed that more than 15000 placement offers were made by around 1300 top multinational companies to the students of batches 2021 and 2022.During this year’s campus placement drive, more than 500 multinational companies have so far given placement offers to over 7500 students, with the maximum annual salary package of Rs 54 Lakh. It is a matter of pride for us that out of these 7500 students, who have secured jobs, more than 38% are girls, he added.
Interacting with the media personnel here, Dr Bawa said, “As many as 543 students from Jammu and Kashmir of the 2022 batch have bagged top offers from multinational companies like Google, Dell Technology, Wipro, Microsoft, IBM and Amazon, while as many as 79 students have got multiple job offers. Of these, 413 are Engineering students while 49 are students of MBA, while rest are passed out in other courses.”
He shared that Vanshaj Sharma of Sanjay Nagar, studying under Computer Science Enginneringin the university, has received placement offers from 5 companies includingCognizant GenC Elevate, Virtusa Consulting Services, Wipro Limited, Capgemini and SISA Information Security. Apart from this, Naman Jain from Talab Tillo, again a student of CSE, has been given offers by 4 companies including Celebal Technologies, Cognizant GenC Elevate, Wipro Limited and Capgemini while Angad Sharma from Nanak Nagar bagged job offers from 4 companies including Accenture India, Cognizant GenC, HighRadius Technologies and Wipro Limited.
Noting that the progress of any country depends on the young entrepreneurs, Dr Bawa said Chandigarh University remains committed to guide its students to start new businesses, making them self-reliant and self-employed. “As many as 114 start-up’s have been established by young entrepreneurs of the University in the last few years and it is a matter of pride that 16 out of these have been set up by the students of J&K, making for almost 15% of all start-up’s,” he said.
Speaking about the research prowess of the varsity, Dr Bawa said thatthe students and the faculty of the Chandigarh University have filed 1300 patents in the fields of Engineering, IT, Sciences and Health Care during the last 4 years, the highest by one single institution in past three years.
“Out of these, 26 patents have been filed by students from Jammu and Kashmir. A special budget of Rs 12 crore has been reserved this year to encourage students towards research,” he said, adding that the University has over 30 state-of-art Research Centers, 20laboratories under industry collaboration, more than 60 research groups and more than 800 research scholars who are presenting innovative solutions.
Chandigarh University has entered into academic tie-ups with 360 leading universities in 77 countries to provide students with international learning and employment opportunities including Student Exchange Programme, Summer Training, Faculty Exchange and Dual Degree Programme, with more than 1500 students having taken advantage of these various programs.
Earlier, Dr Bawa launched CUCET-2022, the National Level Entrance cum Scholarship test of Chandigarh University. “With the mission to motivate and reward talent amongst Indian youth, CU has launched CUCET-2022 which offers a golden chance for the student community to earn scholarships worth Rs 45 crores,” he said, after inaugurating the online portal https://cucet.cuchd.in/ where the students can register for the Entrance Cum Scholarship test. CUCET-2021 is an online examination which offers flexibility to the students to choose their slot and makes them eligible to grab academic scholarship up to 100% in the course of their choice.
Dr Bawa informed that since its inception, Chandigarh University has provided scholarships to more than 63,000 students, with a view to help every student attain higher education. In the last year, as many as 13,000 students benefitted from the scholarships under the CUCET, he added.
“Chandigarh University has positioned itself amongst India’s elite and prestigious higher education institutions. It is the youngest university in the country and first private university in Punjab, to be ranked among the top 5% universities across the nation after been awarded A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and has become the youngest university of Asia to feature in the QS-ranking in 2021, that too in its very first attempt. The University has recently received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for all its Engineering and MBA programs, making it the only private university in the entire country to have NAAC A+ and NBA accreditation. Besides, the University bagged 7 Diamonds in QS i-Gauge rankings in 2020, attesting to University’s academic excellence,” he added.
