Peoples’ yearning for development be respected: Slathia

Vijapur, September 25 (Scoop News)-Highlighting the need for respecting the urges and aspirations of the people, National Conference State Secretary and former minister Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia today called for proactive and focused attention towards far-off and border areas, saying the inertia of the past few years has to be ended, sooner the border.

“Youth are feeling sense of despondency and the residents are craving for regulated utility services”, Mr Slathia said while interacting with the people during his extensive tour of Kamala, Swankha Mode, Garwal, Rarian,Rada, Gho Brahmana, Gho Rakwala, Swankha, Kalah, Hira Chak, Khour Salarian and Nandpur of Block Ramgarh in Vijaypur Constituency.

Mr Slathia said over the last few years most of the areas have been deprived of basic development and thus ignored on all fronts. Time has come for shunning rhetoric and focusing on core issues affecting the lives of the people of Jammu region. Unemployment is at its zenith and there seems to be no clear road map with the government to tackle the burgeoning issue and instead diversionary tactics are being adopted to hoodwink the people, he lamented.

The former minister said that the self-styled Messiahs of the Jammu region are hiding their non-performance and failures in J&K by raking emotive issues which have nothing to do with the development and other issues facing the people. There is need for course correction in developmental strategies and policies concerning the youth, he added.

Urging the cadre to remain steadfast in serving the people and cementing the bonds of amity and tranquility, Mr Slathia said National Conference has always worked to uphold the secular fabric of J&K and fight all the forces which have tried to create a wedge between region, countries and people on the basis of religion , caste, language or ethnicity. He said the party will continue to uphold the values of democracy and secularism which are core of its political philosophy.

During his interaction, the people raised various issues pertaining to development, civic amenities, rations, medicare and basic necessities. He said these will be taken up at appropriate forums for redressal.

Prominent among those present during the visit included Brij Pal Singh, BDC Chairman Darshan Choudhary, Sarpanch Rampal Sharma, Mohan Lal Sharma Subhash Chander Rakesh Dogra Roop Lal Tajinder Singh, Vice President NC Vijay Singh Youth President Riyaz Malik District Secretary, Om Parkash Attri Block President Prem Pal Choudhary and others.
