DGP J&K visits Kishtwar, Udhampur, reviews security situation; arrangements for Independence Day celebration


Srinagar, August 11 (Scoop News)- On the second day of his tour to Jammu Zone, the Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Kishtwar and Udhampur where he chaired officers meetings and reviewed the security scenario of these districts. He also held a Darbar with the jawans at DPL, Kishtwar. He took a review of the arrangements regarding the forthcoming Independence Day celebration in both the districts. He also paid floral tributes to martyrs at Martyrs Memorial Udhampur.

Accompanied by ADGP, Jammu Zone Shri Mukesh Singh and DIG, Doda Kishtwar Range, Shri Udayabhaskar Billa, the DGP first visited Kishtwar where he was received by SSP Kishtwar and senior officer of the district and was presented a ceremonial guard of honour on his arrival at DPL Kishtwar. The DGP then chaired officers meeting which besides ADGP Jammu and DIG Doda Kishtwar Range was attended by Commander 9 Sector RR Brig. Pranab Mishra, DC Kishtwar Shri Ashok Sharma, SSP Kishtwar Shri Shafqat Hussain, CO 11 RR Shri Shashu Pal, CO 17 RR Shri Ameya Chiplunker, CO 26 RR Shri Joseph Christy, CO CISF 7th Reserve Bn. Shri Anand Saxena, Dy. CO CRPF 52 Bn. Shri Anil Sharma, Addl. SP Kishtwar Shri Rajinder Singh, Dy. CO IR 22 Bn. Shri V. K. Bhat and other senior officers.

At the very outset, the DGP appreciated J&K Police and other security forces including intelligence wings for arresting two terrorists immediately after their joining in the terror ranks. He stressed for continued pressure on terrorists/ OGWs to further consolidate peace and directed the officers to stay focused on the assigned responsibilities. He directed the officers to maintain surveillance on the support system of terrorists.

Shri Singh said that anti national elements always look for opportunity to foment trouble in the peaceful areas and added that Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Army, CAPF has always given befitting reply to the Pakistan sponsored terrorism and will continue doing so. He exhorted officers to keep good work going with sincere efforts and be alert while performing duties to thwart any evil designs of the anti-national forces. The DGP directed for conducting joint CASOs in forest areas. He directed the officers to intensify the anti-terror operations so that remaining active terrorists in the district are tracked down. He also took a detailed review of the arrangements regarding the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations in the district.

DGP while addressing the darbar of Jawans at DPL Kishtwar said that due to the hard work and efforts of Police, Army and CAPF personnel peace has largely prevailed and added that little more efforts are required to restore complete peace. Stressing for improving and strengthening the surveillance and information gathering method at ground level, the DGP directed for keeping the anti-national elements under check. He directed the officers and Jawans to make optimum use of the resources at their disposal and be always aware and informed about the ground situation so that no room is provided to the anti peace elements.

Shri Singh directed for organizing the capacity building programmes to improve the efficiency and for strengthening the investigation methods. He emphasized for planned and organized work to get better results. He stressed for gaining public confidence, good will and said that the people's cooperation is necessary for making the environment peaceful. Referring to the grievances highlighted by the jawans during the darbar, the DGP assured redressal on priority. He also reviewed the Independence Day preparedness with the officers.

Chairing the officers meeting at Udhampur, the DGP lauded the police personnel for accepting and tackling multiple challenges time and again. He directed the officers to continue the good work with more energy. He directed the officers to strengthen the highway security grid and augment the security at Naka points. He directed the officers to enhance synergy within the ranks and with other security forces to strengthen the security of highway grid so that any evil attempt by anti national elements is foiled. DGP directed for stringent actions against the elements found involved in drug trafficking.

The meeting at Udhampur besides ADGP Jammu and DIG Doda Kishtwar Range was attended by DIG, Udhampur Reasi Range, Shri Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, SSP Udhampur Ms. Sargun Shukla and other senior officers of the district.

During the meetings the officers briefed the DGP regarding the ground situation and methods adopted for the safety and security of the people as also against the terrorists.
