He said that the BJP’s claim of providing ‘pro-people’ governance stand exposed as Central Government has failed miserably to address the issues affecting the general public. He castigated the BJP government, saying that the common man is going through the worst sufferings under the current dispensation, which has sold its soul to few businessmen, ignoring the agonies of the countrymen. He said that the country is presently going through a state of crisis.“The graph of the inflation is on a constant rise, the fuel prices have touched the sky, and tens of lakhs of the farmers across the country are protesting for repeal of three farm laws aiming to snatch their right over their own lands. The victims of these three issues are the common men, the countrymen who are the true sons of the soil,” said the former Minister.“The BJP claims that theirs is a government of the people, for the people. I ask them to explain how it could be a public friendly government when the common man is suffering from these issues for so long now,” he asked.
Addressing a huge gathering ,JKPCC Chief dwelt upon a volley of subjects and expressed concern over vicious political environment across the country, describing division of people on the basis of religion for votes as dangerous. He observed that votes should be sought on the plank of nation building, development, upliftment of poor and not by exploiting religion. In this grim scenario, the youth have to play a crucial role by negating and isolating all such forces which hoodwink them by generating fear about religion being in danger”, he added. Expressing dismay over functioning of the BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, Mir referred to nepotism and favoritism in the process of selection to various posts and said the scenario is dismal. Apparently referring to alleged backdoor appointments, he said the confidence of meritorious youth have shattered, which call for course-correction.
Mir said the present dispensation was working against the interests of the people of J&K and warned BJP not to barter the self-esteem of the people for few loaves of power. Welcoming pro-active participation of youth in political activities, Mir said that Congress will continue to provide a vibrant platform to public-spirited activists. Congress will encourage honest and devoted youth to serve the people in best of their capabilities”, he added. He decried politics of hate and urged the youth to fight the divisive forces by strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood. He said and added that India belonged to all, irrespective of religion or cast. He said disruptive forces were doing a disservice to this great nation by sowing seeds of hatred. He said that Jammu and Kashmir was passing through a most difficult phase with the insensitive BJP Govt pursuing anti-poor policies.
Mir claimed that “Youth are worst hit, as their avenues of jobs have been closed and whatsoever openings available are being filled either through backdoor or by indulging in favourtism”, he said, adding that this has blocked the future of unemployed educated. He assailed the present dispensation for lacking transparency and accountability. He also took up the issues pertaining to border dwellers, saying they are braving most hostile situation in the forward areas due to shelling. He said lackadaisical approach of the present government has added to their miseries during the past over six years. The government has lost its credibility and the administration its efficacy due to leadership deficit. The end sufferers remain the people, who find themselves at the cross roads,” he maintained.
Mir accused BJP of plunging Jammu and Kashmir into uncertainty, saying their inherent contradictions can lead to unprecedented political crisis. “Apart from failing on administrative front, the coalition partners have not been able to give a matured political leadership to this sensitive state,” Rana said while addressing a day-long delegate convention in the border town here. He said PDP and BJP, which publicly take pride in boasting of being poles apart ideologically, have no meeting ground and both are working at cross purposes. “Instead of solving the problems confronting the state, they are playing to galleries and addressing to own political constituencies. He exhorted the party functionaries and the grass root level workers to remain in readiness for any political development in near future. “The unnatural BJP Govt. can’t carry the baggage of contradictions anymore,” he said, adding that Congress has to gear up for big challenge in the ensuing months. He said power has never been the destination of Congress, which he described as a mass movement.
Mir said that Congress is getting open feedback of the people to over six years of ‘mis-governance and maladministration.’ BJP should read the writing on the wall on the face of historic public protests, and it should serve as an ultimatum to the government for failing Jammu, Kashmir,” he added. Reiterating his call for engaging Pakistan in meaningful talks from border belt of Rajouri along Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Mir said peace will remain elusive until the two neighbors sit together and work towards ending their differences in an amicable atmosphere.“Wars are no solution; wars cause only destruction”, Mir said , adding that border skirmishes and continued shelling have created havoc with people living under perpetual fear. He said Congress will continue to vouch for dialogue between India and Pakistan, as he believes this to be the only way forward in heralding lasting peace in the region. He said the beneficiaries of the peace in the wake of friendly relations between the two countries would be people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have decided their future seven decades ago.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister Raman Bhalla said that the first and the foremost priority for the union government should have been immediate restoration of Statehood to J&K which would have eventually paved the way for resumption of democratic processes. “Unfortunately, one fails to understand the reasons for the delay in the decisions of urgent nature when it comes to J&K,” he remarked. Bhalla observed that people in J&K are already reeling under severe pressure of economic depression and coupled with the prevailing pandemic. “Administratively also the people in J&K feel suffocated and are waiting eagerly for a democratically elected government to address their sufferings. But the people at the helm in Delhi seem to be least bothered about these important public issues and are instead adding to their woes by these rushed decisions,” he added. Bhalla said lack of will in the government has pushed all Sectors to the extreme levels of insignificance.
Former Minister Raman Bhalla claimed that nation is going through turbulent times under Prime Minister Modi. "Our country is going through a difficult time. We must all unite and stay alert to fight against this regime," he said. Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress leader said Modi government has left no stone unturned to destroy our democratic institutions. He stressed that the country needed fair and strong constitutional institutions. Today there is rule of untruth and injustice in the country. Whoever raises his or her voice has to bear the brunt of the government's anger. Former Minister alleged that every section of the society, including farmers, traders and government employees were fed up with this "anti-people" dispensation. He urged the people of J&K to get rid of the "anti-people" BJP government in the state in the next Assembly polls.
Former Minister Raman Bhalla blamed the BJP leadership for their utter failure on all fronts, and misleading Jammu people with false loud statements, as the main motive of BJP is to divert the attention of Jammu people from the real issues of public interests. Bhalla alleged that BJP whom Jammu people have voted into power should not shift their responsibility, but should concentrate on fulfillment of their electoral promises made. People are suffering from the lack of supply of power, Drinking water, Ration, Old age pensions, MNREGA payments, but BJP govt. totally neglecting masses demands and have left them at the mercy of god. He alleged that there is a total collapse of State administration since BJP leadership are themselves confused as media has exposed their internal bickering. He said, all developmental works being started by previous government are stopped and seems standstill, which has affected the people of the state badly. He alleged that BJP has been totally failed to genuine issues of the people from Jammu region while deliberating upon various day to day problems being faced by the public in the absence of any elected Govt.
Bhalla stated that people had enough dose of mis-governance in the J&K for last six years, saying people have realized that they have to support Congress which can address their issues and fulfill their expectations. The people of Jammu displayed faith in BJP while giving them huge mandate from Jammu region with the hope that their grievances will be taken note of and discrimination with Jammu will end. However, BJP after forming Govt. sidelined issues related to Jammu,” Bhalla said. Bhalla said that BJP is responsible for creating social and political uncertainty in J&K and it can go to any extent to remain in power.Former Minister said that the foundation of the country has been laid on secular ideals and harmony amongst different sections keeping in view of the pluralistic character of the nation and those spreading hatred are weakening the nation. He urged people to defeat the designs of such forces who can disturb and destroy the secular fabric of our nation. There is a strong resentment among the people against this government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of Assembly elections. Bhalla said that disillusionment of people with the BJP government is growing, as governance is at the lowest depth and development has taken nose dive in the past over six years. “People are realising the futility of electing a government that is not only insensitive towards their problems but also responsible in adding to these on every front”, he said.
While attacking the NDA government at the centre, JKPCC Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma said that since the change of guard happened in New Delhi, the prices of essential commodities have increased manifold."The prices of pulses have increased and it has become difficult for not only the poor but also the middle class to afford pulses. The ever increasing inflation is taking a toll on the common masses of this country," he said. Sharma said reducing this state into UT, it is again a big fraud and cheating not only with the people of Kashmir but also Jammu region, who had given massive mandate to BJP. The people from Jammu had never demanded UT. They had been raising voice for the separate statehood. For what they have been punished. If the people from outside would come to settle here and do jobs, they would prefer Jammu only and the youth of Jammu will be on roads in the coming years due to great unemployment problem.
Former Minister Shabir Khan lamented that unemployment and inflation in Jammu and Kashmir were all time high, financial health of the people was not good while the present pandemic has snatched away the source of livelihood from billions.“Thousands of youth have gone jobless and their families are at the verge of starvation,” he said and demanded emergency measures to ensure no more job loss in all the sectors. He also urged upon the administration to streamline the salaries of all daily rated workers as they had not been paid for months and sometimes years together. He also urged the administration to regularize the services of all daily-rated workers to secure their future.
