Jammu/Srinagar, December 31 (Scoop News)- Congress has termed the year 2025,as another year of betrayal and non fulfilment of the commitment of restoration of statehood by the centre and pledged to intensify the struggle to achieve full statehood in the coming year.
Terming the year 2025 ,as another year of betrayal by the centre which failed to restore the statehood, as promised time and again , over six years, especially at the time of Assembly elections but even after one and half year of the taking over by an elected government, even the business rules have not been approved, making people to suffer a lot,said JKPCC.
Blaming centre government and BJP for depriving people of J&K of their legitimate right and status and continued uncertainty over most genuine demand of full statehood, without which the people are not able to reap the benefits of democracy,the party has committed to intensify its strugglefor restoration of statehood and strengthen democracy and acceptability & seek fulfilment of the promises with the people especially youths of J&K,who are suffering a lot due to highest unemployment, lack of job opportunities . A fair,transparent ,regular and fast track recruitment system is the right of educated youths besides creations of more job opportunities to unemployed & jobless people, the party said. The repeal of MGNREGA is a big blow to the rural jobless people, for which Congress party has already announced to fight for the continuation of biggest job providing scheme in the country. The party also urged the UT government to fulfil the different election promises to the people to extend the necessary relief to the poor and common man ,who are suffering a lot due to unprecedented price hike huge taxes and enhanced government fees of multiple kinds. The passing year saw major terrorist attacks and multiple terror activities in different parts of Jammu region too ,which need to be curbed and the safety and security of the people be ensured, it demanded. The centre government failed to provide thr much delayed relief and compensation to the flood affected people as over six months have passed and thousands of flood affected people are suffering.
The party demanded the strengthening of grass root democratic institutions by holding free,fair and transparent elections to the panchayat and local bodies, at the earliest, which couldn't be held in view of political uncertainty kept by the centre over statehood, even after Assembly elections.
