Only Hindu Students Should Be Admitted To SMVDIME : Vikrant Kapoor
Jammu, November 19 (Scoop News)- Hindustan Shiv Sena State President Vikrant Kapoor has demanded that authorities at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) in Reasi district cancel the first seat allocation list for MBBS admissions. He also demanded a new admission process and a review of existing rules to ensure adequate reservation for Hindus at the shrine-funded institute. He also demanded that only Hindu students be admitted to the institute.
Hindustan Shiv Sena State President Vikrant Kapoor and State Senior Vice President and Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Ramesh Gupta raise these demands while speaking to reporters during a press conference in Jammu. They stated that 50 MBBS seats were approved for SMVDIME this year, and the admission of 42 students from a particular community in the first batch for the 2025-26 academic year has sparked controversy. They have questioned this process and demanded minority status for the newly established institute.
However, officials stated that admissions were based on merit, as the institute has not been granted minority status and, therefore, no reservation criteria based on religion can be applied. Both the leaders accused the institute of ignoring Hindu sentiments, stating that the first batch of 50 students included only seven Hindus and one Sikh, while 42 students were Muslims, which is unacceptable. They demanded a new admission process and a re-examination of existing rules to guarantee adequate reservation for Hindus. They stated that the medical college was built with donations from Hindus visiting the Vaishno Devi temple, and that this money should be spent solely for the welfare of the community.
They stated that if Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, does not immediately intervene and rectify the situation, the Hindustan Shiv Sena will launch a massive movement against it, and the government will be solely responsible for the resulting situation. Vikrant Kapoor stated that he has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard, requesting his intervention. He strongly criticized the Shrine Board's discriminatory policies and stated that Islamization will be strongly opposed. He alleged that Sanatan offerings are being misused within the Shrine Board. Discrimination has been flagrantly demonstrated by allocating 42 out of 50 MBBS seats to a particular community. Despite this, the Shrine Board, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, and the government have yet to respond to this matter.
He stated that LG Manoj Sinha is also remaining silent. He questioned why the Shrine Board is being Islamized. He asked, "At whose behest were the 42 seats given to a particular community?" He demanded that strict action be taken against the responsible officials of the Shrine Board. He stated that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is a symbol of our faith and deeply ingrained in our religious sentiments. Every year, millions of devotees from India and abroad, along with their families, visit the Mata Vaishno Devi temple to pay homage and offer gold and silver parasols, each year offering donations worth crores of rupees. The Shrine Board runs the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital with these donations.
The devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi were very pleased that their money was being put to good use by the Shrine Board. He stated that the students whose names appeared on the merit list of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) are not at fault. However, to ensure that millions of devotees do not suffer in the name of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in the future, he urged the Shrine Board, Katra, to admit only Sanatani students in the future. This is the voice of the nation.
