Jammu,October 31 (Scoop News)-Congress held an impressive function at PCC HQ Jammu today to pay rich tributes to former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi on her 41st martyrdom today.
Tributes were also paid to first Deputy Prime Minister & Home Minister of the country Sardar Patel on his Birth Anniversary today.
Several functions were organised by the Congress party in the province including at all District and Block levels to remember the two great leaders of the country today.
The main function was organised at PCC HQ Jammu in which senior leaders of the party including PCC, DCC Jammu Urban, Blocks and Frontal wings paid floral tributes to the great leaders and remembered their services to the nation.
The function was presided over by Working President Shri Raman Bhalla and attended by senior leaders including Shri Mula Ram, Shri Ravinder Sharma, Shri Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Th. Balbir Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, Adv. Suresh Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma (Panda), Dwarika Choudhary, Rajveer Singh, Vijay Kumar Sharma (Seva Dal), Vijayant Pathania, Virinder Manhas, Vijay Shastri, Sohit Sharma, Adarsh Sharma & others.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Raman Bhalla recalled the supreme sacrifice of former Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi for the unity and integrity of the nation. She fought for secular values and against communal and fundamentalist forces in the country.
She partitioned Pakistan against all odds by US and established the might of the country in the world. She conducted first nuclear test in 1974 to become a nuclear power in the World.
She was known as Iron lady in the world and was a bold, farsighted, visionary leader of the country.
He also paid rich tributes to first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country Sardar Patel, iron man of India whose immense contributions in the freedom struggle and post Independence will always be remembered.
Sardar Patel integrated the over 560 princely states in the country and banned the communal forces like RSS after the death of Mahatma Gandhi Ji.
Former Minister Mula Ram and Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma also paid rich tributes to the two great leaders and recalled their commitment to secularism and struggle against communal forces. They led the Congress party with commitment to the principles and ideals of the party.
Two minutes silence was also observed on the occasion as a mark of respect to the two great leaders of the country.
Similar functions were held all accross Jammu region in different districts, Blocks and Assembly levels to remember the former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi for her Supreme sacrifice for the nation and for the partition of Pakistan against the threat of US.
The party also remembered the Iron man of India Sardar Patel and paid rich tributes.
