Srinagar, August 16 (Scoop News)-On the joyous occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, extends her warmest greetings to the Kashmiri Pandit and Hindu communities, as well as all those celebrating across the region and beyond.
Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, is a festival that embodies the values of love, compassion, righteousness, and unity—principles that resonate deeply with the cultural and spiritual ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ms. Mufti made a special mention of the Kashmiri Pandit community, who celebrate this occasion as “Zaram Satam” in Kashmir, underscoring their integral role in the region’s rich cultural tapestry. “The Kashmiri Pandit community has always been an inseparable part of our shared heritage. Their traditions, like the vibrant celebrations of Janmashtami, enrich the soul of Kashmir. I extend my heartfelt wishes to them for joy, peace, and prosperity on this auspicious day,” she stated.

Reflecting on the historical bonds between communities in Jammu and Kashmir, Ms. Mufti emphasized the importance of fostering unity and inclusivity. “For centuries, our people have celebrated each other’s festivals, sharing in the joy of Eid, Navreh, Herath, and Janmashtami alike. These traditions of togetherness are a testament to the spirit of Kashmir, where diversity is our strength. Let us renew our commitment to preserving this legacy of harmony,” she added.

Ms. Mufti also called for continued efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment for all communities in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for the dignified return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. “Kashmir is incomplete without its Pandit brothers and sisters. Their cultural and spiritual heritage is a vital part of our identity, and we must work collectively to ensure their rightful place in their homeland,” she affirmed.

On this auspicious occasion, Ms. Mufti prays for peace, prosperity, and unity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and across the nation.
