DLSA Leh organises awareness-cum-celebration program on World Tribal Day at Turtuk

Turtuk, August 10 (Scoop News)-Under the patronage of Hon'ble the Chief Justice Shri Arun Palli, Patron-in-Chief of Ladakh Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Hon'ble Justice Sindhu Sharma, Executive Chairperson, Ladakh Legal Servcies Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Leh under the leadership of Shri Manoj Parihar, Member Secretary, LLSA and Chairman, DLSA (Pr. District and Sessions Judge) Leh and Ms Phuntsog Angmo, Secretary DLSA Leh, conducted an awareness program on NALSA (Protection and enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme and celebrated World Tribal Day at Govt Higher Secondary School, Turtuk, Nubra on 9th August, 2025.

The program commenced with introduction of the NALSA scheme by Adv Zulekha Bano, panel lawyer, followed by illustration of History and culture of Balti tribe by Shri Inayatullah, Numberdar Turtuk.
Ms Phuntsog Angmo, Secretary DLSA Leh illustrated the various Legal aid schemes available for tribals and women. This was followed by cultural program (balti dance and Ladakhi Dance) by students of GHSS Turtuk and GHSS Tyakshi.
The Chairman DLSA Leh Shri Manoj Parihar apprised the audience about the North Zone Conference held by Hon'ble High Court in July with special emphasis on Tribal Rights. He also informed the audience about the various schemes launched in the conference for welfare of tribal people. This was followed by distribution of certificates to the participants and meritorious students. Principal GHSS Turtuk addressed the gathering and urged the students to learn about their Legal Rights.

Various stalls showcasing tribal products and Balti cuisine were also set up in collaboration with "Raichan Farol" Local Women Self Help Group.

Adv Mohd Nazir, Panel Lawyer conducted the proceedings of the program.
The event concluded with vote of thanks by Lakshay Badyal, Chairman TLSC Nubra/Mobile Magistrate, Leh.

The Principal District Judge Leh also inspected Munsiff Court Nubra and Legal Aid Clinics at Turtuk, Bogdang and Front Desk, Diskit.
