Srinagar, June 23 (Scoop News)-Historic Chattabal weir, once a symbol of our water heritage and spiritual harmony, turned into a garbage dumping ground,said by khwaja Farooq Renzushah chairman Kashmir society.
He said that Such neglect not only damages our cultural identity but also weakens our stand on the Indus Water Treaty before the world.
Civil societies group headed by khwaja Farooq Renzushah chairman kashmir society today visited the Historical Chattabal weir site along chairman peace Foundation Fayaz Ahmad Bhat,Social group of parliament Deepak Mishra. .The spiritual Weir known as Jehlum by Muslim devotees & Vitasta by Hindu Devotees of Kashmir was first point of Indus water blockade point on Jhelum.
The panoramic heavenly condition of Weir which existed before Signing of Indus water treaty when water fall from high elevation of Jhelum to lower Jhelum Surface was world's tourism attraction at present stand completely devastated. The Department of irrigation has shifted the entire Jhelum blockade of 1960's to false symbolic side of non-effective gate concealed under its upper level surface opening from front road side through ordinary locked doors.The garbage is not only dumped in river but near the green painted Sign board of holy Weir.
It seems rather garbage vehicles which were supposed to dump garbage in Achin Eidgah are being clandestinely off loaded at holy Weir point.directly in Jhelum. This anti-environmental invasion has rendered the entire Jhelum as garbage dumping abode with foul smell all around. The Vultures are flying in air.
Today Chairman Kashmir society international along chairman World peace Foundation Fataz Bhat , and Group of Social icons of Parliament of India group Deepak Mishra visited this historical site. It was expected that after keeping Indus water treaty in abayance by our country the first blockade point of Jehlum where from. Water of Jehlum is flowing to Pakistan might have been brought back to it's original glory by the irrigation department of J&k state.
It was shocking that ancient spiritual Weir abode of both Muslim devotees as Ashiqaan e Tasawuf & Hindu devotees who treat Jhelum as Holy Vitasta of Kashab Reshi, has been rendered as the garbage destination of Kashmir worse than Achin Eidgah.
At this juncture when World water war flash point is same holy Vitasta of Kashab Reshi & Jehlum river onshore of which our Hazrat Bulbulshah's & Hazrat Shah Hamdan's shrines exist this treatment to the historical Chattabal Weir will adversely affect the great image of Indian stand all around World as well as our Kashmir’s composite culture.
It is necessary that concerned department may explain on whose directions the heavenly beauty of iconic spot of shahar e khass at Weir point has been devastated & rendered garbage dumping area contrary to stand on country now on Indus water treaty.
