PHDCCI Delegation Meets Municipal Commissioner to Discuss Draft City Logistics Plan

Jammu, June 22 (Scoop News)-A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu Region Chapter (PHDCCIJRC) ,comprising of its Chairman Rakesh Wazir, Former Chairman Vikrant Kothiala, and Deputy Resident Director Kartik Pratap Singh, while speaking and elaborating in the meeting convened by Municipal Commissioner Jammu,Devansh Yadav, wherein other officer including Addl.District Development Commissioner,Jammu Sher Singh,Project Director National Highway Authority of India Anuj Kumar,Joint Commissioner Muncipal Corporation Jammu Sudha Sharma and others were also present, to deliberate on the Draft City Logistics Plan and propose actionable measures to ease congestion in the city discussed in detail the measures to ease ease out the traffic in Jammu.


Rakesh Wazir while speaking on the occassion emphasized the need for vertical development i.e. multi story buildings over horizontal sprawl to safeguard green spaces besides usage of one place's FAR in other place and advocated for a long-term, planned approach to city growth—on the lines of Chandigarh—anticipating Jammu’s needs for the next 40 years. He also highlighted the urgency of more roads and the timely completion of ring roads to effectively decongest traffic.

Mr. Wazir further noted that with the Katra–Srinagar rail corridor now operational,and within 2-3 months it will start from Jammu also and as a result now more traffic will come to Jammu/Katra and it becomes significantly important to develop the places of Tourist intrest around Jammu so that Tourists may be able to spend more time while visiting these places and Jammu must be ready to capitalize on this enhanced connectivity for economic and logistical growth.



Mr.Wazir further said that people should be encouraged to use more and more parkings rather than parking their vehicles on main roads.

He also requested him for introducing of more e-Way buses in more areas of Jammu and especially between Jammu & SMVD Narayana Hospital,Kakryal.



Former Chairman Vikrant Kothiala stressed the importance of creating multiple access points from the ring road into the city. He pointed out that at present, RS Pura is the only major connection, and suggested the need for new approach roads from areas like Marh, Chatha, and the Camp area of Talab Tillo. This, he said, would improve traffic flow and make the ring road more effective. He also recommended promoting nearby tourist destinations to help distribute visitor movement more evenly across the region.



Municipal Commissioner appreciated the suggestions and assured the delegation that each and every point would be carefully considered during future urban and transportation planning.
