| KDOA delegation calls on Feroz Khan, underlines need to organise sports sector in Kargil | |
Kargil (Ladakh), September 19(Scoop News)-A delegation of Kargil District Olympics Association (KDOA) called on the Chairman and Cheif Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan at Council Secretariat here today.
The delegation was led by Haji Mirza Hussain, President KDOA and comprised of Syed Mehrajuddin Shah, General Secretary, Safdar Ali Honorary Treasurer/Wushu expert, Mohammad Hamza Joint Secretary, Mohammad Amin Polo Organising Secretary, Ghulam Mustafa Boxing Expert besides Taekwondo experts Anayat Ali Shotopa, Zaheer Abass and Mohammad Ali.
During the meeting the delegation urged the CEC Kargil for the need to organise the sports sector in Kargil District. They said that if the right opportunities are provided to the youth , they have the ability to make the district proud at the national as well as international level. The need for promotion of winter sports as well as traditional sports also came up for discussion .
The delegation underlined the need for formulation of a separate sports policy for UT Ladakh and requested the CEC to take up the matter with the authorities of UT Administration Ladakh. They requested that players for the upcoming Khelo India Games should be selected after thorough trials.
Members of the delegation also apprised CEC Khan about various issues being faced by sports bodies in the district. They highlighted the necessity for setting up of a sub office of the Registrar Societies, Ladakh at Kargil to ease the process of registration of sports bodies in the district.
President KDOA urged the CEC to take up the matter with regard to the setting up of a separate Sports Council for UT Ladakh on the lines of the JK Sports Council to accelerate sports activities in the region. He also highlighted the inability of youths from the region to avail sports quota in educational institutions as well as recruitments due to lack of opportunities and said that if due sports infrastructure is made available to the youth, it can open new vistas of prosperity.
CEC Khan while congratulating the members of KDOA on formation of the olympics association lauded their efforts towards bringing all sports bodies in the district under a single umbrella body.
The CEC said that the LAHDC Kargil is committed towards orienting the energy of the youth towards positive activities. He suggested the KDOA to document the needs and requirements with regard to sports development in the district and further asked them to prepare the draft of a sports policy which may be forwarded to UT Administration Ladakh for formulation of UT Level Sports Policy.
