To abolish SHGs of Engineers is a sordid tale "From Atam Nirbhar to Berozgar" : Sheikh Mujib

Doda,September 19 (Scoop News)- Sheikh Mujib Ali President, District Congress Committee Doda lashed out J&K Govt. over its decision to scrap scheme of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Engineers. In a press statement he said "Rights of the J&K youth are being sabotaged, lackadaisical and indifferent approach over their burning issues and self aggrandizement has become a new parallel of the present establishment of J&K".

"This is what it gifted to nearly 15,000 unemployed youth of J&K by doing away with the scheme of the SHGs in J&K. A sordid tale from Atam Nirbhar to Berozgar-On one hand Mr. Modi talks of Start Up India but on the other hand this is what J&K youth gets. That too at the juncture when COVID-19 has hit hard the bread earnings of the Labour Force (Technical, Skilled and Unskilled) of J&K especially of Distt. Doda. Literally, this Govt. has lost its sense of occasion" he said.

Further he stated "It is high time for the Govt. to go from Global to Local, keeping in view the present pendamic scenario. It would have turned bane into boon by using the Local Labour Force and institutions like the SHGs in the local developmental projects, big or small, which would have generated good source of income in this hour of despair. But the Govt. is high bent upon abolishing such institutions. Instead of promoting them under PPP (Public Private Partnership) model its now narrowing its contours through such perturbing actions".

He demanded that the Local Labour Force be used in the execution of different ongoing developmental projects in the region and simultaneously the Govt. must immediately reinstate the SHGs and should increase their quota in work allocations.
