Abhay Bakaya demands comprehensive economic package for revival of tourism sector in J&K

Jammu, September 17 (Scoop News)- Apni Party leader Abhay Bakaya has demanded a comprehensive economic package for the revival of tourism and associated business sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement to the press, Apni Party leader Abhay Bakaya said that the tourism industry which remained the backbone of J&K’s economy has suffered badly from last year especially due to covid-19 lockdown.
“The economic activities have come to a standstill and the government should come up with a comprehensive economic package for its revival,” said Bakaya.
Bakaya expressed serious concern as to why no tourism revival policy has been finalized by the government and demanded the industry needs a robust new multi-dimensional tourism policy.
He said that whether it is cottage industry, hotels, lodges, guest houses, dhabas, restaurants, house boats, taxi operators, drivers, shikara owners, guides, handicraft manufacturers, travel agents, transporters and others who have been associated with the tourism sector have been struggling to continue their activities.
Meanwhile, the government should extend bank loan relief in terms of bank loan repayments, compliances, moratorium period should be extended up to August 31, 2021 and the interest accrued during moratorium period should be waved off, he demanded.
