Appeal to people to stay away from rumours regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) -AJKLTF

Jammu, March 15 (Scoop News)-All Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation aft.Akhil Bhartyia Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasang appealed to all office Bearers and Members of all the Universities,District & Zonal Units in Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh [UTs] to help raise public awareness about the new coronavirus[Covid-19].

In a telephone call with all the Universities, District & Zonal Presidents, Devraj Thakur State President All Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation aft.Akhil Bhartyia Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasang said that teachers can play an important role in helping stop the spread of the virus by informing Students and Citizens of what steps they should be taking.He also called on the public to show “courage, calm and solidarity,” appealing citizens to take safety measures to fight against the virus.He appealed public to not panic and take safety measure to avoid coronavirus. The panic is gripping in Jammu and surrounding areas after some patients were found positive to coronavirus.
Thakur asked people to stay away from rumours regarding coronavirus and emphasised on the need to follow the advice of doctors in this regard.He also asked people to avoid handshakes and start greeting others with 'namaste' once again.
"In such times rumours circulate very rapidly. Some say don't eat this, don't do that. Some people will bring in new things such as eat this to keep coronavirus away. It is my request to all the citizens in J&K, kindly keep away from these kinds of rumours," he said.
"Whatever you do, kindly do it on the advice of your doctor. Let's not become doctors ourselves. Don't lend your ears to rumours about the Coronavirus in the social media. Rely only on the authentic information, the disease was spreading through those individuals who had returned from overseas, facilities are available to give proper treatment to those people if they show symptoms of the virus" he added.
Just as the number of people and countries affected by this new virus have spread, so have conspiracy theories and unfounded claims about it. Already social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, have seen a number of false and misleading posts about 2019-nCoV, such as:

“Oregano Oil Proves Effective Against Coronavirus,” an unfounded claim
a hoax .
Stating that the government had created and patented a vaccine for coronavirus years ago, shared on social medias,a false claim that “coronavirus is a human-made virus in the laboratory”
sales of unproven “nonmedical immune boosters” to help people ward off 2019-nCoV. unfounded recommendations to prevent infection by taking vitamin C and avoiding spicy foods a video with useless advice about preventing 2019-nCoV by modifying your diet (for example, by avoiding cold drinks, milkshakes, or ice cream). This video, which demonstrates the removal of a parasitic worm from a person’s lip, is many years old and has nothing to do with 2019-nCoV", Thakur added.

Thakur earlier too was seen creating several awareness campaign including of keeping the school clean movement.
