BJP works relentlessly to raise its membership strength across the state
sets a target of 50 seats in upcoming assembly polls, hopes delimitation and rotation of reserved seats put in effect

Jammu, June 19, (Scoop News)-Aiming high to win as many as 50 seats and have its own chief minister in yet to be announced assembly polls , the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is strategizing to enroll 1.7 million members in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the informed party sources, the national president, Amit Shah, had set a target of 35 seats for the state unit of BJP in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir for which they have been asked to put in all their efforts and work tirelessly.

They said the party had got 1.7 million votes in recently concluded parliamentary elections in the state. Incidentally, the party had won three out of total six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

The sources said the party was in high spirits at booth levels and prepared with men and machinery to face the assembly polls ahead. They said the BJP would win more seats and will emerge as a single largest party if the delimitation of the assembly constituencies would take place before the announcement of elections.

“Even if the delimitation of assembly constituencies doesn’t take place, the party is still capable of winning the sizeable number of seats in the 87 member state assembly,” the sources said adding “given the recent comparative poll percentage, we are far ahead of all other political parties in the state.”

The turnover of the voters Kashmir valley and Ladakh region in the recently concluded elections were encouraging, they said adding “we have to work hard in both these regions to make our presence felt by getting some seats to improve our tally.”

The sources said the sole objective of the party was to raise its membership strength from half a million at present to 1. 7 million members in the coming months for which they have been working relentlessly for past couple of weeks.

The party also hoped that besides the delimitation of assembly constituencies, the rotation of the reserved seats will also be implemented, the sources said. ...
