In a pre poll alliance, Mir, Faesal and Rashid join hands
launch PUF as credible political alternative for providing good governance in state

Srinagar, June 19, (Scoop News)-A new political outfit was launched after three political groups joined hands and entered into a pre poll alliance ahead of yet to announced elections for Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly.

Shah Faesal of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh of Awami Ithaad Party (AIP) and Javed Mustafa Mir formed an alliance and named it as People United Front (PUF).

The idea was conceived after analyzing the prevailing political uncertainty and lack of credible political alternative that could provide good governance to the people of the state said chairman PUF, Javed Mustafa Mir, while speaking to media persons.

He said there is no political force that could fill the existing political vacuum and our effort would be to unite the people of the state irrespective of religion, caste, creed and colour. Mir, a former minister, was elected thrice as a lawmaker from his Chadoora assembly constituency in Kashmir

Faesal said the idea was to provide a credible political alternative to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the front would work for the justice to all.

Engineer Rashid said that PUF was open to talks with anyone and affirmed to provide a credible alternative. He said they would not seek support from anyone and assured that the front will form the new government of its own in the state.

“We have not joined politics to rehabilitate ourselves like others but have come together to provide a credible, corruption and nepotism free government,” he added.

Rashid said forming a new front was the need of the hour and assured the people that they will not let them down as they (people) were feeling let down in the absence of a credible leadership.

He said the new front has released an agenda of alliance that will facilitate the resolution of Kashmir issue, support all confidence building measures between two neighbouring countries, India and Pakistan, protection of cultural diversity, ethnic and demographic uniqueness, protection of special status and constitutional guarantees accorded to the state with respect to political representation and delimitation of the assembly constituencies.

“It is an agenda of hope and will strive to fulfill our objective,” PUF leader said.

Rasheed appealed the Central Government not to deprive the people of Jammu and Kashmir of their political rights and hold the elections at the earliest.
