MSTL collects soil samples at Ramban
Ramban, June 13 (Scoop News)- Horticulture Department organized two days visit programme for the Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory (MSTL) to promote the use of soil testing among the fruit plant growers of the district Ramban.

As many as 112 soil samples were collected by the team, conducting the visit along with MSTL from far flung areas of Pogal, Kote, Sergarhi, Ukhral and Ramsoo. The team also collected soil samples from Gool, Ramban and Batote areas.

The team accompanying MSTL also demonstrated the process of sampling besides providing on spot test reports to some of the farmers. The soil testing is being encouraged to promote the judicious use of fertilizers.

Horticulture Development Officer, Banihal and Batote gave a detailed introduction regarding the soil testing and its importance to the orchardists and they were advised to go for soil testing every three years to check the soil health.

Chief Horticulture Officer instructed the field staff for sensitizing orchardists about the importance of soil health besides organizing demonstrations for collection of soil samples.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Horticulture Department deputed Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory (MSTL) along with technical staff to various districts wherein it visits the far flung areas for collection of soil samples and generation of reports on the spot...
