Gen Dhillon likely to replace Gen Bhatt as Corps Commander of 15th Corps

Udhampur, January 7, (Scoop News)-Lieutenant General AK Bhatt, Corps Commander Chinar Corps, is likely to be replaced by Lt. Gen KJS Dhillon next month, informed sources said.

Gen Bhatt who took over as Corps Commander of 15 Corps on January 31, 2017 will be taking over as Military Secretary at the Union Capital, the sources said. During Gen Bhatt’s tenure as Corps commander, the army launched operation ‘all out’ in the valley last year which resulted in the liquidation of several top insurgents.

Gen Dhilon who had previously served in various capacities in the valley, is at present serving as the Director General of Perspective Planning in Indian Army at New Delhi. During his posting in Southern Command, he commanded the 36th infantry Division, also known as RAPID, they said.

An officer of Rajputana Rifles, he had earlier discharged his duties in the insurgency ravaged Valley in 2011 and also led counter insurgency brigade, 7 Sector of Rashtriay Rifles (RR) at Handwara in north Kashmir where he was active in planning a large number of CI operations in the area. He later on was posted as Brigadier General Staff (BGS) of the Chinar Corps.

Gen Dhillon will be taking over a highly problematic 15th Corps when the state is preparing for both parliamentary and assembly elections in coming months....
