Slathia seeks special recruitment drive for border youth
Vijaypur,December 18 (Scoop News)- National Conference State Secretary and former minister Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia on Tuesday sought special recruitment drive in armed and para military forces besides police for the youth residing within five kilometer radius of the International Border.

Addressing party workers at Village Khour Slarian Nandpur Ramgarh in Vijaypur Constituency, Mr Slathia said that border dwellers are living a pitiable life, not only because of the intermittent shelling from across the border but due to fear psychosis which restricts their movement to their land holdings for farming. During sowing season they remain off their lands due to threat of shelling, he said adding this impacts their economic conditions hugely.

Mr Slathia said the Centre had many a times made commitment with the border youth for jobs in the armed forces but no concrete step has been taken in this regard thus for. He hoped that the Ministry of Home Affairs will take positive steps in this regard and urged the Governor to take up this issue with the Centre for the larger interest of the border dwellers. He also sought expediting of work on the bunkers and decision with regard to providing alternate dwelling units for the resident of forward areas.

Mr Slathia exhorted the National Conference functionaries and workers to expand their mass contact programme, identify the problems faced to the people and seek their appropriate redressal at appropriate forums. He hoped that they will remain at the forefront to meet the challenges facing to the state.

On this occasion several Congress and the BJP workers joined National Conference. Prominent among them included Pyaara Singh, Ramesh Singh, Surjit Singh, Jasbir Singh, Ravi Singh and Laddi Singh.

Welcoming new entrants into the party fold, Mr Slathia hoped that with their joining the National Conference will be further strengthened at the grass roots level.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sarpanches Rampal Sharma, Mohan Lal Sharma, Darshan Singh, Asha Kumari besides Block President NC Ramgarh Mohan Singh Patti and the District Secretary NC Om Parkash Attri.
