Implement OBC schemes vigorously: Teli tells Govt
Kathua,November 10 ((Scoop News)- National Conference OBC Cell has sought effective and we'll coordinated effort for implementation of various schemes ameliorating the lot of weaker sections in Jammu and Kashmir. He also emphasized the need for enhancing the reservation quota for these sections bringing this at par with per several other states of the country.

Making several demands at the meeting of the cell, Mr Teli also demanded one time issuance of the OBC Certificate on the analogy of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories.
“The previous PDP-BJP Government had ignored the legitimate demands of these communities during their nightmarish rule”, he added.
Large number of people, especially the members of the OBC participated.
Mr Teli recalled the contribution of National Conference led government under Mr Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister towards the welfare and empowerment of Other Backward Classes. He said despite strenuous efforts the reservation from 2 per cent to 4 per cent during his tenure is not being implemented by the current anti-weaker sections and anti-poor government.
The Co- Chairperson sought nomination of members of OBC communities in various District Development Boards/ Corporations, as at present these bodies are not being represented by this reserved category. He also expressed concern over fund starvation for the welfare schemes of OBCs in the SC/ ST / OBC Development Financial Corporation, saying this has retarded the momentum of welfare initiatives.
He also expressed serious concern over the non functioning of OBC Development Advisory Board as no member has been nominated from any castes till date since the formation of this Board by the present Government.
Mr Teli sought immediate redressal of the grievances of OBC communities.
Those who were present included Mr Sham Narain Mehta, Sr. Vice President District Kathua, Ch. Karam Din Chopra ( Advocate), Mr Subash Chander, Mr YogRaj , Mr Kewal Krishan, Mr Ram Chand , Mr Bodh Raj Gandhi and others.
