Article 35A is not anti-national: Rana

Bani, September 20 (Scoop News)-National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Thursday lashed out at the BJP for unleashing misinformation campaign over Article 35A, saying this proviso relates to rights, identity and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and is not anti-national.

“How can a proviso of the Constitution of India be anti-national”, Mr Rana asked while addressing workers at Bani in Kathua district this afternoon.
The Provincial President said that Article 35A is anything but not-anti national, as it forms important ingredient of the Constitution of India. In fact, this Article endorses the wisdom of Maharaja Hari Singh and his far-sight which is reflected in the presidential order of 1954. He termed Article 35A as region and religion neutral.
Mr Rana said the adversaries of Article 35A were now frustrated over their disinformation campaign on this constitutional proviso, which has backfired. He condemned the lowest depths of the BJP in misleading public opinion and said the laws concerning the rights of the people were being twisted with a sinister objective of weakening the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian union.

Cautioning against ulterior motives of the BJP to do away with Article 35A, Mr Rana said that a duty has cast upon all the people of the state, especially Dogras of Jammu region, irrespective of caste, creed and religion to stand and save this proviso in order to avert outsiders domination. The chances of non-state subjects making their way to Jammu are more serious because of its proximity to other parts of the country and conclusiveness in terms of security scenario, culture, topography and terrain, he said and hoped that the self-proclaimed champions of the Jammu cause will not ignore this reality.
“The fall out of removing this constitutional proviso will be detrimental to overall interests of the state in general and the people of Jammu in particular”, he said and referred to the growing consciousness among the people of Jammu with regard to their rights and the likely subjugation they might suffer in the event of state subject laws are dispensed with.
Mr Rana decried the hate politics of the BJP, hoping the people will foil all their machinations of dividing them on the basis of region and religion.
Addressing the workers, former Deputy Speaker and National Conference leader Malik Ghulam Hyder said that people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladkah will unitedly frustrate all attempts of tinkering with Article 35A.

Mr Malik also raised several local issues and decried the nightmarish rule of the PDP-BJP duo for over three years, saying they have left legacy of crisis that has engulfed every sphere of activity.

Th Kashmira Singh, ex MLC and senior leader exhorted the people to see through the divisive politics of the BJP, which has all along generated passions and created wedge among different segments of society.

“We have to foil all such machinations by further forging the bonds of amity and brotherhood”, Th Kashmira Singh said.

Former MLA and senior National Conference leader Mr Prem Sagar Aziz said that the people were looking towards the party with a hope of steering them out from the prevailing political instability.

District President Mr Romi Khajuria also addressed the workers and highlighted various issues confronted to the district.
