CUK bids farewell to ex registrar, welcomes new officers
Srinagar, September 10 (Scoop News)-Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir Prof Mehraj ud Din said that despite many challenges the varsity has many significant achievements to its credit that has helped it to make a mark at national level. He praised the faculty and staff for these achievements and especially lauded the role of former registrar Prof Mohammad Afzal Zargar in taking University to newer heights. Prof Mehraj ud Din was speaking on the occasion of farewell cum welcome function held at Nowgam I campus of Central University of Kashmir (CUK).
Prof Mehraj ud Din bade farewell and felicitated former registrar and also welcomed in charge registrar Prof Fayaz Nikka and Controller of examination Prof Parveen Pandit.
Deans of various schools, Heads of the departments, faculty and members of administrative staff including controlling officers participated in the function.
Prof Meraj ud Din said, “It was a privilege for me to work with Prof Zargar. His achievements are very much visible.” Complementing Prof Zargar for his dedication Vice Chancellor said, “He always worked with great zeal. I remember his tireless work during and after 2014 floods in order to bring the varsity back on track.”
Bidding farewell to former registrar the I/C registrar Prof Fayaz Nikka said, “Prof Zargar has been a very affectionate officer and an exemplary decision maker. Due his cooperation, foresightedness and administrative acumen he took this University to newer heights.” He said that he will try to carry on the rich legacy left behind by Prof Zargar.
Prof Zargar, who was on deputation, served the Central University of Kashmir as registrar for last five years.
Many senior professors and deans of the schools recalled and lauded Prof Zargar’s efforts and initiatives that he took during his tenure at the CUK.
In his speech Prof Zargar thanked the Vice Chancellor and his colleagues for their love and support. He said, “Whatever we achieved the credit in true sense goes to our worthy VC who is so full of energy that he, leading by example, left no scope for us but to give our best.”
He said, “I feel humbled by the touching words of my dear colleagues, without their support I would not have been able to achieve anything.”
Meanwhile a condolence meet was held at the Nowgam Campus of Central University of Kashmir on sad demise of Syed Gulam WQadir Geelani father of Dr Syed Zahoor Geelani, associate Professor Teacher Education department, CUK. Vice Chancellor, registrar and faculty of the CUK prayed for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved.
