Rector Bhaderwah Campus flagged off Army's High altitude trekking expedition for local youths

Bhadarwah,August 16 (Scoop News)- Prof. GM Bhat Rector Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu today flagged off Army's High altitude trekking expedition for local youths.

In an endeavour to encourage youth to take part in adventure sports, the Indian Army in collaboration with Bhaderwah Campus flagged off a high altitude trekking expedition for students of Bhadarwah on Thursday to Bhal-Padri, Amar Singh Pura, Gwari from Bhadarwah in Jammu and Kashmir.

The flagging off ceremony was held at Bhaderwah Campus in which besides participating youth, Army Officers, students of the campus and officers from police and civil administration were also present.

The function was presided over by 2IC 4RR, while Prof G. M. Bhat was the chief guest and ADC Pawan Parihar was the guest of honor.

While speaking on the occasion , Prof. GM Bhat said that such events help in the over all physical and mental devlopment of the youth.

The team will trek for close to 7 hours daily in the high altitude Himalyan ranges of Bhadarwah between August 16 and 21, 2018. The expedition will culminate at Gwari area of Bhalessa on Aug 21, 2018.

"Adventure, sports activities and studies invariably go hand-in-hand for the overall character development of every student and should be a way of life for every youth, thus reinvigorating camaraderie and espirt-de-corps amongst, the students" added Rector Bhaderwah Campus

He said that the trek will allow the participants to relive a slice of the history of Nomads especially Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes, who traditionally live in high altitude meadows since centuries, while also offering them a glimpse into the life of villagers of district Doda amidst expansive hilly slopes, cascading waterfalls and running streams.

The aim of the expedition is to create awareness about the functioning of Army amongst youth of the region and also motivate them to join the Indian Army.
