Preparedness for Shri Amarnathji Yatra reviewed in Anantnag

Anantnag, June 22, (Scoop News)-District Development Commissioner Anantnag Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik along with ADC Anantnag Showkat Ahmad Rather and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Consultant, Retd Brig Kuldeep Singh convened a meeting of the officers of line departments and representatives of SDRF & NDRF to review the disaster preparedness for Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2018, at Dak Bungalow Khannabal Anantnag here today.
The meeting was also attended by SDM Pahalgam, SEs of PHE and PDD, Exens of PHE & Flood Control, CMO Anantnag, CEO Anantnag, DEPO Anantnag, Assistant Director FCS & CA Anantnag, Executive Officers of Anantnag & Pahalgam Municipalities, besides the representatives of Disaster Management, NDRF, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, BSNL, DySp Traffic and a representative from 1 Sector RR.
The meeting was informed that adequate SDRF and NDRF personnel will be deployed for Shri Amarnathji Yatra duty, in addition to the volunteers of Home Guards and Civil Defence Volunteers for smooth conduct of the Yatra. It was decided that mock drill shall be held to test the preparedness, before the commencement of the Yatra at Pahalgam. It was also decided that qualified Disaster Management Professionals would be deployed at all stations for assisting the district administration for effective management of Yatra and disasters.
On the occasion, DDC Anantnag gave directions for ensuring smooth and incident free management of Yatra and to take all necessary measures. He instructed all the concerned to ensure satisfactory arrangements including the sanitation at the transit camps and halting stations besides providing adequate water/ power, life-saving drugs including oxygen cylinders and other basic essentials for the Yatries.
NDMA Consultant, Retd. Brig. Kuldeep Singh, while detailing about the Disaster Management Preparedness, through a PowerPoint Presentation discussed various aspects of disaster management including the incident response system, various levels of disaster management, different types of calamities and safeguard against them, role of the state during disasters, route plan, metrological & geographical factors, ecological issues and other related asaspects. He stressed upon employing the proactive and anticipating procedure for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
