TBS JU in Association with AIMA Organized Business Simulation Workshop

Jammu, March 23, (Scoop News)- The Business School, University of Jammu organized a two day Workshop on Business Acumen through Business Simulation. The theme of this program is “Learning by Doing”, organized in association with All India Management Association (AIMA).
The program was facilitated by D K Gupta, a reformist and innovator in implementing Education Projects and conducting simulations. With a vast experience of about more than 3 decades in the Industry, Education and Management especially with the World Bank Projects, he is currently placed in All India Management Association as Deputy Director-Business Simulation for the last 10 years. He is an academician and administrator for AIMA’s Business Simulation training and has conducted more than 300 simulations for over 15000 participants by developing and modifying Case studies on different industries based on the latest trends and challenges emerging from time to time. He has also been theLead Trainer for ISB, IIM, IITs and Multinational Corporates. Mr. Gupta was accompanied by Mr. Vijay Singh, a Faculty with AIMA who was conducted more than 300 workshop of Business Simulation in companies like ONGC, Tata Steel, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, SAIL, and in B-Schools like ISB Hyderabad, IIM Lucknow, IIT Chennai, ICFAI etc. He is an expert in Software Project Development on Visual .Net, Simulation Trainer, Simulation Game Designer, pioneer in making Testing modules of Simulation Games through incubation and roll outs.
AIMA’s program was a software-based simulation. It focused on planning, prediction and analysis in the area of operations, material sourcing/procurement, inventory control, R&D, marketing, HR and finance. The software that generates the results collates participants’ decisions. It allows the use of many contemporary situations and variables that ensure better and faster learning.
The session started with a briefing on Simulation, followed by a Trial Round to help participants to understand techniques of playing game. The program continued with various Rounds of Games briefing how players in market compete within same industry in dynamic environment and discussion on how finances, pricing, investing and other capital related decisions are handled. The session also involved discussions on Market trends and shifts in strategy and implementations.
The objective of the program is to give students a cross-functional insight into the working of an organization and enable them to contribute beyond their assigned roles and competencies, with the help of ‘Chanakya’, the in-house software that replicates the Indian emerging market. It challenges and hones long and short term strategizing skills, business acumen and most important, preparing the potential leaders towards taking stock of an organization as a whole, as an experiential learning. The experience sensitizes them towards the impact of each measure across various functions on Profit and Loss. The design is to make each participant emerge aligned towards the ultimate objective of the Executive Management.
The formal welcome address and concluding remarks was given by Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Rachna and Ms. Saloni, Assistant Professors, The Business School, University of Jammu.
